Yesterday, during Gamescom Opening Night Live we finally found out about World of Warcraft: Shadowlands launch date. A short trailer revealed that the latest expansion in WoW saga is set to come out on October 27th, meaning that we got less than two months until players will get to travel to Shadowlands.

We were hoping to hear the news about the Shadowlands release date a bit earlier, but the current pandemic in the world delayed the launch for a bit. However, recently, the game’s PTR (Public Test Realm) was updated with a pre-patch build, so many fans of the game, us included, started to speculate that the launch must be near.

For now, World of Warcraft live game is running on an 8.3 patch, but we hope to get a pre-patch update fairly soon. It will bring Shadowlands class changes, new leveling experience, and a special pre-patch event with Scourge invasions. It’s fairly safe to assume that 9.0 will go live sometime in September.

However, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands launch date wasn’t the only thing Blizzard revealed during the stream. We finally got to see the first episode of World of Warcraft’s new animated series called Shadowlands Afterlives. It will be a four-part series revealing more details about each of the new game’s Covenants coming with a new expansion. The first episode is dedicated to Bastion, an angelic-like faction of the Warcraft’s afterlife.

Take a look:

In this episode, we can see how the famous Uther the Lightbringer, Paladin of the Silver Hand met an untimely demise … but his service is not done. When he passes into the afterlife, Devos – a Paragon of Bastion – takes Uther under her wing, only to learn that “some mortal wounds run deeper than she could imagine.” It’s a great flavor-filled animation that will leave a lot of WoW fans very happy. We hope to get the remaining 3 shorts in the coming weeks’ prior World of Warcraft: Shadowlands launch.

If by some chance you lived under a rock and know nothing about the upcoming World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, you should know that it will be the eight expansion that will bring players to the other side. According to developers, Shadowlands will feature 5 new zones – Maldraxxus, Revendreth, Bastion, Ardenweald, an The Maw – 8 new dungeons, a new raid, and a new endlessly replayable, ever-changing dungeon called Torghast, Tower of the Damned.
