What a welcome surprise! Apparently, IO Interactive and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment are continuing their awesome partnership which began in 2017 on Hitman 2, after IO Interactive stopped working with Square Enix. Both companies are teaming up for the new game project. However, it seems like the new game won’t be Hitman-related.

In an official press release, the CEO of IO Interactive, Hakan Abrak said that the studio has the ambition to continue their proud history of creating compelling characters and universes.

“As we embark on this exciting project to create a new universe for IOI together with Warner Bros., we’re currently looking for ambitious talent to join our team in our Copenhagen and Malmö studios for this extraordinary journey.”

Hm… A new universe, you say? We don’t know about you guys, but to us, this indicates a new IP. Additionally, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president David Haddad mentioned that this new project is targeted at console and PC players.

Currently, that is all we know, but something in our minds suggests that the new project might be of a kind intended for the next generation consoles. Project Scarlet and PlayStation 5 is coming out next year, so this would make a lot of sense. Rumors about the new game from IO Interactive were around for a while and now we have an official confirmation – just a day after PlayStation 5 was confirmed. Just a coincidence?…
