If you’re an older gamer you might remember 1999’s release of System Shock 2. Back then, System Shock 2 was very influential and served as an inspiration for many classics such as BioShock, Prey, and possibly the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077. The game was developed by Irrational Games and Looking Glass Studios and until now it was only playable on PC. But things might change soon enough…

Nightdive Studios, a company who specializes in resurrecting retro classics announced that it’s currently working on a new System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition.

Of course, this announcement doesn’t clearly state the platforms Nightdive Studios might be considering. It very well may be the 4K resolution re-release for PC, but something tells us that Enhanced Edition is way more than that. In 2013, Nightdive already re-released System Shock 2 for PC including graphical overhaul, so doing the same thing all over again feels weird.

System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition is more likely to be targeted at console gamers who have never even had a chance to experience it. With the new re-release, we’re also hoping to see some changes to the game’s systems that didn’t age well. The game is expected to arrive sometime in 2020.
