Most gamers accuse Rockstar Games of releasing too few games and sleeping on its laurels. Prior to Red Dead Redemption 2, the most recent game from the studio was Grand Theft Auto 5, released in 2013. In between, there were only additional content updates and the GTA 5 re-release to other gaming platforms. However, it looks like we won’t have to wait 5 more years to experience another Rockstar game as they are preparing for the next generation of consoles.

Rockstar Games website recently posted multiple job listings. One of the job posts for senior environment artists explains that candidates will be working in the fresh development team to “create next-generation worlds for some exciting new projects.” It also explains that modeling and texturing is not the only required skills. New team member “must be able to create immersive, living, and fully-realized environments”.

Another job posting is looking for mocap tools developer in Rockstar New York. The job description details that the new addition to the team will “help create and build upon the next generation of MoCap tools and pipeline.” It also says that the new developer will be working on “some of the largest scale projects to be found in any entertainment medium.”

Having in mind that Red Dead Redemption 2 featured the largest map ever created by Rockstar, these new job listings might reveal that the company is already hard at work developing something dedicated for the next generation hardware. But what could it be? Max Payne 4, GTA 6, or something else entirely? Frankly, we don’t care. We just hope that we won’t have to wait another half-decade to find out.
