Double Fine has announced that highly anticipated Psychonauts sequel won’t be released in 2019 as previously promised. In an official Psychonauts 2’s Fig page, the developers shared a post which states that the game will now be arriving on PC and console in 2020.

The post reads:

“We’re now targeting next year for release. We know it’s always disappointing when you have to wait a bit longer, but we also know that you are an amazing, supportive bunch, who – just like us – want the game to be as good as possible. So we’re hopeful you’ll understand! <3”

A bit earlier, Double Fine has announced that the studio has been acquired by Microsoft, so that could be the real reason behind the delay. However, the studio assured that this acquisition does not affect the PlayStation 4 release in any way.

To ease the pain, you can check out some fresh Psychonauts 2 videos. Double Fine shared a lengthy documentary-style video from E3 2019. Check it out below.

Psychonauts 2 will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2020.
