Sony lifted their restrictions for PlayStation 4 cross-play and more studios are joining the ever-growing line-up of games. This week it’s Hi-Rez Studios! The publisher has announced that Paladins, Smite, and Realm Royale players on PlayStation 4 will be able to team up with players who are playing these games on PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

The cross-play functionality will make its debut on September 17th with Paladins and Smite kicking things off. Later, in early October, Realm Royale will also get some love and cross-play functionality. However, it’s worth mentioning that while the first iteration of cross-play will work for playing games it won’t support the cross-progression feature. Hi-Rez Studios released a statement regarding this issue:

“Currently, we will not support cross-progression (shared achievement & trophy progress) and cross-commerce (shared pool of purchased items across platforms). We are working with our partners at Sony on a solution for this.  We will update the community as soon as we have more information on cross-progression and cross-commerce. “

Regardless, this is a great step forward which will please the community of Hi-Rez Studios games. We’re pretty sure that both cross-progression and cross-commerce will be implemented in the future.
