Sonic the Hedgehog is celebrating its 30th anniversary and the collaboration between this iconic franchise and Minecraft is a perfect fit for this occasion. Sonic’s anniversary happens to be today, the 23rd of June, and to mark this noteworthy milestone, Mojang is releasing a Sonic-themed DLC for the popular sandbox title Minecraft.

The new DLC, which is available on the Minecraft Marketplace, entails a bit of everything. One of the perks that come with this DLC is procedurally generated maps that are inspired by Sonic favourites, including the Green Hill Zone, the Chemical Plant Zone, battle bosses like Robotnik, and more. And, of course, we can’t not mention a Sonic character skin. Ready for the blockiest adventure with the Sonic gang?

If you are a fan of Sonic and his crew and happen to also love Minecraft, then good news for you. The whole gang’s here: Knuckles the Echidna, Amy Rose, Miles “Tails” Prower, Shadow the Hedgehog, Super Sonic, Dr. Robotnik, and many more. While Big the Cat does not appear to be confirmed, we can’t say she won’t make her debut in the DLC.

Mojang is not the only one that is preparing something to note the 30th anniversary of the famous Hedgehog. SEGA seems to be working with a variety of other projects to celebrate this date, including a retro collection of Sonic 3 and Knuckles, a Sonic Colors remaster, and a new 3D Sonic game that’s rumoured to be released next year.

If you are not yet a part of the Minecraft community, we encourage you to join this fantastic game and witness the charm of the worldwide famous sandbox title. In addition, we also offer great prices on Sonic games!
