During the weekend, Microsoft has announced some great news for the fans of Crackdown. While many players are still playing Crackdown 3 which was released only a couple of weeks ago, the publisher decided to treat fans with Crackdown 2 on Xbox One through backward compatibility.

The news was announced by Larry Hryb, also known as Major Nelson, via Twitter. Additionally, to backward compatibility, Larry mentioned that the game is going to be free on both, Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles.

Originally, Crackdown 2 was released as an Xbox 360 title and received generally favorable reviews. While it wasn’t as revolutionary as the first game in the series, Crackdown 2 offered some innovations which transitioned well into Crackdown 3.

If you’ve completed the Crackdown 3 and are looking for something new to play, the prequel might be a good choice. It’s also a wonderful offer to those who haven’t yet purchased the Crackdown 3 and want to know more on what the game is all about.
