If you thought that a free to play version of Call of Duty Modern Warfare will quickly fade off, think again. Due to many people staying at home with nothing to do, Call of Duty: Warzone is breaking every expectation developers had for the game previously. According to the latest numbers, Call of Duty: Warzone has passed the 30 million players mark in just eight days and that number is getting bigger by the hour.

Even its launch day was unusually successful. According to Activision, the new free-to-play shooter attracted more than 6 million players in the first 24 hours. And while Call of Duty: Warzone might only be a free version of an already existing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, it seems like Infinity Ward is treating Warzone as a separate title. Game’s design director Geoff Smith said that the team wanted to make Warzone because big open games excite them…

The developers also mentioned that Call of Duty: Warzone will continue to evolve in the future. Recently, a solo mode was added to the game while the rumors spread about another action-packed mode with a smaller map may be on its way.

All signs point to a new long-term game which will be supported by Activision for years to come. At least, we hope so. Call of Duty: Warzone is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
