The developer behind the critically acclaimed survival game ARK: Survival Evolved, Wildcard Games, has finally unveiled the next major content update for the game. The new two-part expansion will be called Genesis and should begin rolling out in December.

ARK: Genesis will deliver two major expansions similar to the previous three – Scorched Earth, Aberration, and Extinction. Players will be able to purchase a season pass to get both or buy them separately. While  ARK: Genesis Part 1 will be available from December 2019, the follow-up, ARK: Genesis Part 2 won’t be released until 2020s winter season. Here’s the announcement trailer:

Currently, it’s a bit hard to grasp on the features the two new expansions will bring. The trailer features two very distinct areas – one with a hot volcano and some type of magma creature, the other – snowy mountains and a cute little critter that becomes a big bad wolf (or something similar to a wolf). The description below the video states that Genesis will further ARK’s storyline, allow players to explore diverse biomes, and introduce an all-new mission-based game mechanic.

If you’re interested in learning a bit more about the new expansion, the Wildcard Games developers recently did a 49-minute long stream on their Twitch channel on which the team covered the Genesis expansion in a bit broader manner. You can find the link to the stream VOD here.
