During last night’s State of Play stream by Sony, we got a lot of interesting news regarding some new games as well as some old ones. For example, Remedy Entertainment showed a new DLC to its popular action-adventure game Control which will bring back the long lost Alan Wake. The fan-favorite character will be a part of a new Control DLC called AWE.

While the DLC was teased some time ago and we speculated about it a bit in our previous blog post, during the State of Play stream we finally got to see what it will look like in a game. Here’s a trailer:

The description of the new DLC reads as follows:

“As Director of the Federal Bureau of Control, Jesse Faden must enter the Investigations Sector and confront the creature lurking within this long-abandoned part of the Bureau. This threat has haunted the sector for years, waiting on the other side of the sealed Firebreak. In order to reclaim the Investigations Sector from its clutches, Jesse will need to explore the numerous Altered World Events investigated here, including one from the town of Bright Falls.

AWE brings new story content and side missions as well as new weapons and mods to the world of Control.”

While the description itself doesn’t say a lot about Alan Wake being present in a new DLC (apart a bit about Bright Falls), at the end of the trailer we get a short glimpse of seemingly older Alan. While it’s not very surprising, since throughout the campaign Alan Wake teases can be found all around the game. It’s nice to know that we’re not just seeing things…

Some fans are already speculating that AWE expansion will serve as a set-up for a potential future game with Alan Wake assuming the central role. To be honest, we wouldn’t be surprised, since not so long ago Remedy reclaimed the right to use this character from Microsoft. Alan Wake is one of the best-known video game characters in gaming and it will be interesting to see him again after all these years.

But before that, be sure to catch up with Control’s story. Control: AWE is set to be released on August 27th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. We have a great price for the game.
