When we were imagining the next Medal of Honor game we weren’t expecting this. Yesterday, Respawn Entertainment has announced that the team is currently working on a new Oculus VR shooter set in World War 2. The company took the name of the legendary shooter franchise to make their own VR experience which should make its debut over the next summer.

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond will be the new entry in the popular Medal of Honor series which was very well known in the past. The latest game in the series, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, was released in 2012. However, it wasn’t great, so most younger gamers have quickly forgotten that the Medal of Honor franchise was one of the greats back in the day. Respawn Entertainment wants to return that Medal of Honor story back to its glory days.

According to the announcement Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond will be a fully-fledged VR first-person shooter game with a dedicated single-player campaign and some type of multiplayer mode. This sounds very curious indeed since a majority of VR games have difficulties implementing proper balanced multiplayer. However, novelties shown in the trailer gives us hope…

As you might expect, VR will help to do justice for gunfights, however, Respawn Entertainment found some fresh new ways to show off VR capabilities in FPS genre. According to the information, players will be able to catch grenades or other objects and toss them back, swim, dive, crouch and everything else in between. Watch a trailer – it looks fun as hell.

However, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is currently announced just of Oculus Rift with no option to play it on Oculus Quest, HTC Vive, o PlayStation VR. But in half a year almost everything can happen, don’t you think?
