While Ghost Recon Wildlands might be old, but it doesn’t mean that Ubisoft forgot about it. The company has revealed the final major content update which adds brand new “Mercenaries” mode that features unique PvPvE gameplay.

The new mode description reads:

“Mercenaries is an eight-player free-for-all PvPvE gameplay experience. Your objective is to call for rescue, locate and reach the extraction point, and be the first to board the chopper.”

From what we gather, the new game mode is some sort of 8-player battle royale thing. However, in addition to fighting others, players will be tasked to gather the required equipment and find an extraction point. In order to get the equipment, you’ll have to fight against AI-controlled soldiers. They will be also guarding three transmitters required to call the chopper in order to escape and win.

It’s nice to see that Ubisoft is still supporting the game after all this time. In a blog post detailing the update, the company stated that with Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint coming this October, Ubisoft wants to send off Wildlands with one last major update as a thank-you to the community. Most likely, Wildlands won’t receive any further updates, however, the last one is completely free.
