Apparently, Gearbox Software is way ahead of its development schedule for their upcoming open-world FPS game Borderlands 3. The studio confirmed the game’s status via Twitter thanking everyone who worked on the game.

In case you didn’t know, “gone gold” is a fancy way of saying that the game is completed and ready to be printed in discs. Of course, this doesn’t mean that it’s completely polished. There might still be some things to tweak and change ahead of its release but all these changes to the game code will come in the form of a day one patch or other post-release updates.

Having in mind that the game is almost a month and a half away, Gearbox saved a lot of time for potential bug-squashing and marketing for Borderlands 3. After a public statement that the game is complete prior to its release on September 13, our expectations are very high. Who knows, maybe the studio will immediately start working on the first Borderlands 3 DLC which might come sooner than previously expected.

The game is set to be released for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
