There’s no denying that World of Warcraft is the most successful MMORPG of all time. It’s crazy to think that Blizzard’s hit game is still holding its top position in the genre, even 15 years after its launch. To mark this occasion Blizzard has decided to celebrate World of Warcraft’s rich history with a special event that will bring players back to the most iconic moments in the game’s timeline.

Upon your next log-in, you’ll get a new achievement and a bundle of anniversary rewards. Be sure to run straight to the nearest mailbox and grab your initial bag of gifts which will give you a new Lil’ Nefarian pet, cosmetic consumables, and some fireworks. You’ll also get a special quest to visit Caverns of Time where the amazing exposition of World of Warcraft’s history awaits.

Upon entering Caverns of Time you’ll see a bunch of birthday decorations, an alley of flags commemorating Azeroth’s races and an awesome collection of memory portals which will allow players to rewatch the most iconic moments in World of Warcraft lore. These include all the videos released in the game throughout the years – expansion cinematics, famous video sequences such as The Wrath Gate or the defeat of Deathwing.

While exploring Caverns of Time you’ll be able to find Chromie and queue up for the special raid called Memories of Azeroth. The raid has 3 separate wings – each one dedicated for a previous expansion with 3 iconic bosses:

  • The Burning Crusade: Kael’thas Sunstrider, Lady Vashj, Archimonde.
  • Wrath of the Lich King: Heigan the Unclean, Anub’arak, The Lich King.
  • Cataclysm: Cho’gall, Nefarian, Ragnaros.

Upon completing all raid wings you’ll get an achievement called Memories of Fel, Frost, and Fire which will grant you a new mount Obsidian Worldbreaker – your own mini version of rideable Deathwing.

PvP players will also have something to do during the 15-year anniversary event. Blizzard has included a throwback battleground called Korrak’s Revenge which is inspired by the earliest day of Alterac Valley. Upon completing quests in the battleground you’ll get Timewarped Badges. Collect 200 of them and you’ll be rewarded with Alterac Valley of Olde achievement and a special faction mount.

All in all, this celebratory event is definitely worth checking out. According to Blizzard, it will be available for two months and will conclude in January. A great way to spend your time while we wait for the new Visions of N’zoth patch which will conclude Battle for Azeroth’s story and make way for the next chapter in Shadowlands.
