Well, this is unexpected… Adult Swim and Japanese game developer Soleil Games have announced a new game based on the popular animated series. Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time will be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2020.

Text description of the new trailer says that Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time will be a brand new 3D hack-and-slash where players control Jack as he travels through different timelines towards his final showdown with Aku. And that’s enough to capture our interest… However, that’s not all.

According to the information provided, the game’s script will be written by Darrick Bachman, one of the writers of the original animated series. As stated, Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time will tie into the epic series finale but will tell an entirely new Samurai Jack adventure.

Lastly, we should talk about the actual developers of the game. Soleil Games is a small studio comprised of ex-Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive developers. They already got to prove their worth and developed Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker. Soleil Games also contributed their talent to games such as Travis Strikes Again and Devil’s Third. So when we talk about 3D hack-and-slash games – they are not new to the genre.

While that’s all the news we have, we hope to receive more details over the weekend. PAX East is happening right now and Adult Swim is hosting their own panel at the show on Friday, February 28th.
