You might know Vince Zampella as a guy who’s leading one of the best EA’s game development studios, Respawn Entertainment, or remember him as the previous CEO of Infinity Ward. The dude is like a machine when it comes to leading AAA game development. Just last year his team managed to release a very successful Apex Legends game in addition to  Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. However, his career path shifts once again as he was announced as a new head of DICE LA studio.

DICE LA is a US-based studio which will hold close ties to the main DICE studio based in Stockholm, Sweden. Vince Zampella was put in charge of this newly formed studio and should help it grow and begin its first original project. However, it’s worth mentioning that Vince Zampella won’t be leaving Respawn entirely and will serve as “head coach”.

Speaking with Los Angeles Times, Zampella said that DICE LA will likely drop the DICE name.

“We will probably rebrand. We want to give it a new image. We want people to say, ‘This is a destination you can go and make new content.’ I think they’ve kind of gotten the branding that they are the support studio for DICE Stockholm. I think rebranding is important for showing people, ‘Hey! Come work here. We’re going to do some amazing things.’”

For now, we don’t know what those amazing things are but we can speculate that the new DICE LA project might be related to shooters since Vince Zampella has a huge background making awesome multiplayer FPS games. We hope to learn more about the rebranding and the first studio project in 2020.
