The developer behind the popular free-to-play action-RPG game Path of Exile, Grinding Gear Games, recently revealed their latest game expansion called Blight. In it, players will be able to play through a new questline which will introduce a new gameplay mechanic. Path of Exile will get a new tower defense mode which will award its players with new rewards for their characters.

The description of the new expansion reads:

“In Path of Exile: Blight, you must stop the spread of the deadly Blight by building towers to defend against monsters held in its thrall.

Our September expansion contains the Blight challenge league, three revamped balance archetypes with new skills and support gems, plenty of new items, two old leagues being integrated into the core game, and a focus on giving you more freedom to choose which aspects of Path of Exile’s content you play and when.”

In addition to the new quests and tower defense mechanics, Path of Exile: Blight also brings a ton of quality-of-life improvements and other gameplay changes. These include a revamp of the questing system known as Atlas of Worlds. Additionally, players will be able to enjoy a new class, a couple of skill tweaks and a lot of fixes in League Play.

Grinding Gear Games also detailed the release date of Path of Exile: Blight. The expansion will debut on September 6th on PC. It will also be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players three days later, on September 9th.
