Last week, NetherRealm, the developer of Mortal Kombat franchize dropped a new trailer for the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11. The new trailer features some of the game’s story details alongside many of the returning characters. Here’s the video:

From what we’ve managed to gather, the game’s story will revolve around the antagonist Kronika, a new character with the ability to manipulate time. In Mortal Kombat 11 players will be able to fight as past and present versions of Mortal Kombat characters which should make up an interesting story. Johnny Cage arguing with his younger version is an argument we’d love to hear.

The new video also features some other playable characters which weren’t confirmed up until now. Mortal Kombat 11 players will be able to beat the crap out of their opponent as Cassie Cage, Jacqui Briggs, Erron Black, and more.

All in all, NetherRealm shouldn’t disappoint – the studio is known not only for their mastery in creating engaging gameplay but for the story as well. Their latest game Injustice 2 had a brilliant story and Mortal Kombat looks every bit as good. Furthermore, the story trailer reveals a lot of interesting set-pieces featuring large-scale battles. It will be interesting to see how these will play out in a fighting game.
