Marvel’s Avengers haven’t even launched yet but this doesn’t stop developers from announcing the game’s future content. In the most recent developer update, Crystal Dynamics shared their plans for yet another post-launch hero – the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. However, this hero will be a console-exclusive and will only be available for PlayStation players.

While this decision coming from the developers is not surprising (Sony owns the rights to use Spider-Man), some fans were not happy about the hero’s exclusivity. According to Crystal Dynamics, Spider-Man alongside his own story campaign will be added to the PlayStation version of Marvel’s Avengers sometime in 2021. However, it’s worth pointing out that the developer didn’t mention whether it will be a full exclusive. After the storm that brewed on social media, the hero might be released on other game versions sometime later.

While console-exclusive content is not a new concept in the gaming industry, fans will never be happy about it. Buying Marvel’s Avengers on other platforms means that you are deliberately choosing to buy a lesser version of the game. To fix this, Crystal Dynamics might be planning to give Xbox and PC players some exclusive characters as well (X-Men for Xbox?) but that won’t change the fact that you won’t be able to play the full version of the game. Currently, the only smart option seems to be buying the game on the PlayStation. Well, until Xbox or PC gets some exclusive content too. Anyway, we’re just rambling…

The gaming industry is weird and these console wars are making it even weirder. 2021 is still some time away and most of the Marvel’s Avengers players might not even play the game that long. We’d like to remind you that the game is scheduled for September 4th release. You can pre-order your copy of the game from our store.
