If you’re into games that faithfully represent certain historical aspects, there are plenty of titles to choose from. Throughout the years we’ve seen a lot of games depicting various moments from our history. However, one, in particular, stands out as a faithful representation of Medieval ages – Kingdom Come: Deliverance might be one of the best historically accurate games you can find on earth.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an open-world action-RPG game that passes on things that its competitors indulge and praise. In the game, you won’t find magic wielders, dragons or any sort of fantasy tropes. Instead, Kingdom Come: Deliverance focuses on historically accurate content that is unmatched by any other game out there.

The story

The game is set in the medieval Kingdom of Bohemia, an Imperial State of the Holy Roman Empire in 1403. According to various historical sources, during that time Bohemia was tarnished by a civil war that took the lives of many citizens.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance puts you in the shoes of Henry, the son of a blacksmith, who has his life shattered. A bunch of raiders slaughters his family and friends right in front of his eyes, and by a miracle, he manages to escape. You guide your character through this unforgiving world. Your actions and choices can mold Henry into a man of great impact.

By now, many of you figured out that the story of the game is quite fictional. However, it’s created in a way that feels true to the time period in which the Kingdom Come: Deliverance game is set. And that’s the whole beauty.

The details

It’s the details that surround the main storyline that matter. In one previous interview, the developers of the game, Warhorse Studios, mentioned that the game is filled with historically accurate information. In fact, the team hired a group of historians who previously never developed a game! Studying history and architecture before walking into game development makes a lot of sense if you’re planning on building a historically accurate piece.

And it shows. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is filled with history, accuracy, facts, and even tales fit for the period. It faithfully represents medieval clothing designs, building layouts or flora of a nearby forest. It also features dialogue that feels true to the time period but is still comprehensible to modern players. Even the fight animations are designed to include the most acute techniques that were once used to fend off from the harm’s way.

Who should play it?

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is by far one of the best medieval games out there, and with no doubt in mind, we would recommend it for any history junkie. While Kingdom Come: Deliverance lacks some of the modern gameplay experience, it excels with an unprecedented focus on realism. The experience you’ll find here is yet unmatched, and arguably, it won’t be at least for a hefty while. It’s also worth mentioning that Kingdom Come: Deliverance received numerous awards and is one of the most awarded games you can find on Steam. So, if you’ve never tried it – be sure to check it out. We offer a great price on it.
