MP9 | Hot Rod

MP9 | Hot Rod is a CS2 skin for the Counter-Terrorist MP9 SMG, featuring a glossy metallic red body and contrasting gray components. Its plain Anodized finish suits players who prefer strong color without artwork or patterned decoration. Factory New and Minimal Wear copies are available, including Souvenir versions, but there is no StatTrak™ edition.

Description

MP9 | Hot Rod gives the Counter-Terrorist MP9 SMG a reflective red finish in CS2. The underlying weapon is a Swiss-made polymer design with ergonomic construction associated with private security use. Hot Rod uses an Anodized finish to create its metallic appearance rather than relying on illustrated graphics. The absence of visible lettering and artwork keeps attention on the weapon's surfaces and shape. Its restrained design suits red-themed loadouts and players who prefer a single dominant color. Dark gray components break up the red body without introducing a competing decorative motif. Known professional owners include FalleN, kennyS, and donk, although ownership alone does not establish broader market demand. Buyers can compare exterior, float value, and regular or Souvenir versions when choosing a copy.

History and Origin

MP9 | Hot Rod was released on November 27, 2013. It arrived with The Mirage Collection in the DreamHack 2013 update. Valve created the skin, rather than a community designer. Its collection identity is separate from the Souvenir Packages that can contain its Souvenir edition. That edition is available through 15 Souvenir Packages. Examples include the DreamHack 2013 Souvenir Package and the EMS One 2014 Souvenir Package. Today, direct purchases on the Steam Community Market and player-to-player trades offer acquisition routes beyond opening a package. Trade Up Contracts using eligible Mirage Collection skins also provide a possible route, with the result selected randomly from the collection's Mil-Spec Grade skins.

Finish Style

The Anodized finish places a transparent red coating over a chrome base. This combination gives the body a deep metallic red appearance with bright reflective highlights. Red covers the receiver, pistol grip, and vertical foregrip, linking the main surfaces through a consistent color. The muzzle, straight magazine, and skeletal stock remain dark gray. Smaller controls introduce lighter gray accents that stand apart from the red coating. Horizontal receiver grooves and ribbing on both grips add visible texture beneath the glossy appearance. There is no visible artwork, lettering, or patterned decoration to interrupt the plain finish. The overall effect comes from the contrast between reflective red surfaces and the surrounding gray components.

Float Value

MP9 | Hot Rod has a float value range of 0.00 to 0.08. Its available exteriors are Factory New and Minimal Wear, with no Field-Tested, Well-Worn, or Battle-Scarred copies. Regular and Souvenir versions exist, but there is no StatTrak version; these version choices are separate from exterior condition.

Rarity and Popularity

MP9 | Hot Rod is a Mil-Spec Grade skin from The Mirage Collection. Its chance of being obtained from the collection is 1.07%, about 1 in 94 collection outcomes. Professional ownership by FalleN, kennyS, and donk provides a documented point of interest beyond its rarity grade.

Why it’s Popular:

• Deep metallic red surfaces with bright reflective highlights

• Plain finish without lettering or illustrated artwork

• Contrasting gray components keep the color scheme focused

• Regular and Souvenir options suit different collecting preferences

Price Range

The live MP9 | Hot Rod price range is $161.41 to $308.96. These bounds cover the whole skin, not a fixed exterior or version. Compare Factory New and Minimal Wear listings by their actual float value rather than relying on the exterior label alone. Souvenir copies add another version to consider. To assess a CS2 skin price before buying or selling, match the version and exterior, then check the individual listing.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open a Souvenir Package

A Souvenir MP9 | Hot Rod can be obtained by opening a compatible Souvenir Package. The skin is available through 15 packages, including the DreamHack 2013 Souvenir Package and EMS One 2014 Souvenir Package. Check that the selected package can contain this skin, since opening one does not guarantee the desired result.

3. Trade Up Contracts

A Trade Up Contract using 10 Industrial Grade skins from The Mirage Collection can return 1 Mil-Spec Grade skin from that collection. Hot Rod is a possible result, but the contract randomly selects among the collection's Mil-Spec Grade skins.

4. Buy on the Steam Community Market

The Steam Community Market provides a direct purchase route for MP9 | Hot Rod without relying on a random collection result. Compare the exterior and whether the listing is regular or Souvenir before choosing a copy.

5. Trade with Other Players

Player-to-player trades offer another way to acquire the skin through an agreed exchange rather than a package opening. Before accepting, confirm that the finish, exterior, float value, and regular or Souvenir version match the intended trade.

Trading and Investment Considerations

Professional ownership provides evidence of interest, but it does not establish sales volume or consistent demand. Supply trends and trading activity remain uncertain, so neither shrinking availability nor easy resale should be assumed. Compare regular and Souvenir copies within the same exterior, then inspect individual floats before setting a buy, sell, or trade target.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Established Mirage Collection origin

• Professional ownership including FalleN, kennyS, and donk

• Distinctive metallic red Anodized finish

• Regular and Souvenir versions offer different collecting options

The editorial investment rating for MP9 | Hot Rod is medium. Its established collection history, professional ownership, and distinctive finish support collector appeal, but do not demonstrate sustained price growth. The main risk is uncertain resale demand and supply behavior, so a holding decision should not assume future returns.
