Short Description

MP9 | Black Sand is a CS2 skin for the Counter-Terrorist SMG, featuring military camouflage in tan, black and dark olive. Its irregular patches extend across the receiver, magazine and skeletal stock. The subdued palette suits players building a dark or military-themed loadout. All standard exteriors are available, alongside StatTrak™ and Souvenir versions.

Description

MP9 | Black Sand gives the Counter-Terrorist SMG a camouflage finish in CS2 rather than a bright decorative design. The underlying MP9 is a Swiss-manufactured weapon with an ergonomic polymer construction. Its weapon description places it in the context of private security use, which fits the finish's practical military styling. Black and dark olive form the visual foundation, while irregular tan patches break up the darker surfaces. The camouflage continues onto the long magazine and stock, giving the design continuity across distinct weapon parts. This look suits players who prefer muted colors and textured detail over vivid accents. Standard, StatTrak and Souvenir versions provide different ownership options without changing the identity of the Black Sand finish. Buyers can compare exterior, float and version to select a specific copy rather than treating every listing with the same name as interchangeable.

History and Origin

MP9 | Black Sand was released on February 14, 2018 alongside the Clutch Case. Its introduction came through the Clutch Case Skins update, establishing the case as its original acquisition route. Steam Workshop community designer MGBazz created the finish, giving it a documented community-designed origin. The skin belongs to The Clutch Collection, which identifies its collection separately from its weapon type and rarity. Existing Clutch Cases remain available to buy on the market and open for a chance at this finish. Valve retired the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025, ending new Clutch Case drops. That retirement concerns the supply of new cases, not whether previously obtained cases can still be opened. Today, buyers can also obtain an existing Black Sand directly through marketplace listings or trades with other players.

Finish Style

Black Sand uses a Custom Paint Job finish built around tan and black military camouflage, with dark olive visible beneath the patches. Across the upper receiver, irregular tan shapes interrupt the dark base rather than forming a neat repeating stripe. The lower receiver stays mostly black, with horizontal ridges and tan markings near its edges. The long magazine carries the same olive, black and tan palette, with small textured panels visible on its face. Both the pistol grip and front grip are predominantly dark, combining ribbed surfaces with fine dotted texture. Scattered tan markings appear on the skeletal stock, keeping its open structure visually connected to the receiver. The short barrel and muzzle remain predominantly dark, leaving the camouflage concentrated on the larger body sections. Together, these details create a restrained, broken-pattern appearance whose character comes from color placement and surface texture rather than prominent artwork.

Float Value

MP9 | Black Sand has a float range of 0.00 to 1.00, covering its full set of exterior options. Available exteriors are Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred, so no standard wear tier is missing. StatTrak and Souvenir versions also exist; these are version choices, separate from a copy's float value and cosmetic condition.

Rarity and Popularity

MP9 | Black Sand is Mil-Spec Grade, a rarity classification that should be distinguished from its exterior and float value. Its chance of appearing from a Clutch Case is 11.42%, so opening a case does not secure this particular finish. Professional players apEX, tarik and mixwell own the skin, although that ownership alone does not establish current trading demand.

Why it’s Popular:

• Muted camouflage suits dark and military-themed loadouts

• Tan patches give the receiver and magazine visual contrast

• All standard exteriors offer different condition choices

• StatTrak and Souvenir versions broaden collecting options

Price Range

The live MP9 | Black Sand price range is $0.06 to $18.00. These bounds cover the whole skin, not a fixed exterior or version. When comparing CS2 skin prices, check whether each listing is standard, StatTrak or Souvenir before assessing its condition. Exterior labels describe wear categories, while the individual float provides a more specific condition detail within the available range. Use listing images to judge the visible camouflage instead of relying only on an exterior label.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open the Clutch Case

Open an existing Clutch Case for a chance to receive MP9 | Black Sand; the skin's opening chance is 11.42%. The case no longer drops, but remaining cases can be bought on the market and opened. This is a chance-based route, unlike purchasing a specific listed copy.

3. Buy on the Steam Community Market

Buy a listed MP9 | Black Sand on the Steam Community Market to select an existing copy rather than rely on a case outcome. Check the exterior, float and version attached to the listing before choosing it.

4. Trade with Other Players

MP9 | Black Sand can be acquired through a player-to-player trade for items offered in return. Confirm that the offered MP9 has the intended finish, then check its exterior and float. Identify whether it is a standard, StatTrak or Souvenir copy before agreeing to the exchange.

Trading and Investment Considerations

No new Clutch Cases drop, although existing cases can still be opened and add more Black Sand copies to circulation. This is an inexpensive skin, but a low purchase price does not demonstrate strong resale demand or an established growth trend. For a buy, sell or trade decision, compare float, exterior and version rather than assuming every available copy has the same appeal.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Retired Clutch Case supply receives no new drops

• Documented ownership by apEX, tarik and mixwell

• StatTrak and Souvenir versions provide collecting options

• Understated camouflage suits coordinated military-themed loadouts

MP9 | Black Sand receives a medium-to-poor investment rating: retired case supply is supportive, but its inexpensive price level weakens a scarcity-based investment argument. Professional ownership gives it visibility, not proof of sustained buying pressure. The main risk is mistaking finite case supply for rising skin demand, since a lasting price trend and resale depth are not established.
