SG 553 | Tiger Moth

The SG 553 | Tiger Moth is a CS2 rifle skin featuring orange bodywork and a detailed moth-wing pattern. Black markings, brown and tan sections, and dark fittings give the scoped rifle a busy but coordinated appearance. Its look suits players who favor organic patterns and orange-and-black loadouts. All exterior grades are available, alongside StatTrak™ and Souvenir versions.

Description

The SG 553 | Tiger Moth applies an insect-inspired Gunsmith finish to the Terrorist-side scoped rifle in CS2. The weapon offers a scoped alternative for players engaging opponents at longer distances. Its visual identity comes from moth-wing artwork rather than a uniform coat of color across the painted body. Bright orange on the receiver and stock contrasts with irregular black patches and curved markings. Dark fittings separate these colorful surfaces from the barrel, scope, grip, and rear stock frame. This combination suits players who want a patterned rifle with a clear orange-and-black palette, rather than an understated finish. Buyers can choose standard, StatTrak, or Souvenir versions according to their preferred item type. Comparing exterior labels, actual float values, and the appearance of individual copies helps narrow the choice without relying on the finish name alone.

History and Origin

The SG 553 | Tiger Moth entered CS:GO on December 11, 2015, with the Revolver Case Skins update. Its original case was the Revolver Case, which remains the container associated with obtaining this finish through an opening. The Honey Badger created the design as a Steam Workshop community designer. The skin belongs to The Revolver Case Collection, linking its case origin with its trade-up collection. Valve retired the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025, changing the case's supply route after its original release. The Revolver Case no longer drops, so fresh case drops no longer replenish its stock. Existing cases can still be bought on the market and opened, keeping that acquisition route available despite retirement. Today, buyers can also obtain existing copies through marketplace purchases or player trades, separately from the skin's historic introduction.

Finish Style

Tiger Moth uses the Gunsmith finish style, with custom-painted artwork built around the shapes and markings of moth wings. The receiver and stock carry bright orange surfaces broken up by uneven black patches and dark curved lines. Across the handguard, brown and tan tones shift the palette away from the stronger orange used elsewhere. Pale, branching outlines surround darker shapes in this section, giving the wing motif its detailed structure. The magazine continues the orange-and-black treatment, with a pale strip running along its front edge. Both the barrel and scope remain predominantly dark gray or black, visually separating them from the painted body. The pistol grip and the stock's rear frame also retain comparatively plain, dark surfaces. Together, these placements create a busy central design bordered by restrained fittings, with different painted sections contributing to the same organic theme.

Float Value

The SG 553 | Tiger Moth has a float range of 0.00 to 1.00, covering its full available wear span. Its exteriors are Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred, so none of those exterior categories is missing. StatTrak and Souvenir versions also exist, while exterior and float describe cosmetic condition rather than which version a copy belongs to.

Rarity and Popularity

The SG 553 | Tiger Moth is a Restricted skin from The Revolver Case Collection. Its stated chance from a Revolver Case opening is 2.66%, making the case route a random outcome rather than a direct purchase. Professional players coldzera, Xyp9x, and kioShiMa have owned the finish.

Why it’s Popular:

• Bright orange bodywork with distinctive black markings

• Detailed moth-wing artwork across the handguard

• Dark fittings balance the busy painted surfaces

• Standard, StatTrak, and Souvenir options

• Every exterior grade is available

Price Range

The live SG 553 | Tiger Moth price range is $0.87 to $23.02. Its accessible price level makes it a practical finish to consider for a modest rifle-skin budget. Compare Factory New through Battle-Scarred listings by actual float value, rather than treating every copy within an exterior as interchangeable. Standard, StatTrak, and Souvenir listings should be checked separately, without assuming a fixed price relationship between versions. When comparing CS2 skin prices on Eneba Skins, match the exterior and version, then inspect the individual listing before deciding which copy to buy.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open the Revolver Case

Open a Revolver Case for a chance to receive Tiger Moth, with a stated probability of 2.66%. The case no longer drops, but existing cases remain available to buy on the market and open. This route produces a random result rather than allowing the buyer to select the skin.

3. Trade Up Contracts

A Trade Up Contract can use 10 Mil-Spec Grade skins from The Revolver Case Collection to produce 1 Restricted skin from that collection. Tiger Moth is a possible result, but the outcome is random among the collection's Restricted skins. The contract therefore offers a chance at this finish, not a guaranteed copy.

4. Buy on the Steam Community Market

The SG 553 | Tiger Moth can be bought directly on the Steam Community Market by choosing an existing listing. Check the exterior and version to ensure the selected item matches the intended purchase. Unlike a case opening or trade-up, a direct listing identifies the skin being bought.

5. Trade with Other Players

Players can obtain Tiger Moth by trading for an existing copy held by another player. Compare the offered item's exterior, float value, and standard, StatTrak, or Souvenir version before accepting. A direct trade targets a particular copy rather than relying on a random case or contract result.

Trading and Investment Considerations

Retired case drops limit that source of fresh supply, although existing cases and trade-up contracts can still produce this finish. For a buy, sell, or trade, compare matching exteriors and versions before treating different listings as interchangeable. Listing volume and price history are not established, leaving short-term demand and resale speed uncertain.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Retired Revolver Case prevents fresh case drops

• Distinctive orange bodywork and moth-wing artwork

• StatTrak and Souvenir options support collecting choices

• Owned by coldzera, Xyp9x, and kioShiMa

The SG 553 | Tiger Moth earns a medium investment rating, supported by accessible pricing, retired case drops, and professional ownership. Its visual identity and available versions offer collecting appeal, but they do not establish future price growth. The main risk is buying for a quick flip when resale demand is uncertain and existing cases or trade-ups can still generate new copies.
