About this skin

How is a skin affected by its quality?

How does the rarity of a skin work?

Rarity classifies a skin's tier, with case-opening odds indicating how likely it is to appear. AUG | Chameleon is Covert and has a 0.32% chance from the Operation Phoenix Weapon Case.

How much does AUG | Chameleon cost?

AUG | Chameleon ranges from $64.38 to $750.00. These bounds cover the whole skin; compare individual listings by exterior, float and version.

Which exteriors are available for AUG | Chameleon?

Short Description

AUG | Chameleon is a CS2 skin for the Counter-Terrorist scoped assault rifle, featuring colorful animal artwork over a dark body. A green and yellow chameleon stretches across the rear stock, with its red-orange tongue reaching forward along the receiver. The design suits players who prefer a restrained rifle with a bright focal point. It comes in every exterior from Factory New to Battle-Scarred, with StatTrak™ and Souvenir versions also available.

Description

AUG | Chameleon gives the CS2 AUG a Custom Paint Job built around an illustrated chameleon. The scoped Counter-Terrorist rifle combines power and accuracy with tight shot grouping and rapid fire. Its long reload time is part of the weapon's handling, separate from the cosmetic finish. The artwork introduces an organic subject through the animal's extended legs, curling background shapes and narrow tongue. Most of that detail sits toward the rear, leaving the forward assembly visually restrained. This balance suits loadouts that pair dark equipment with selective green, yellow and orange accents. Professional players dupreeh, Happy and TaZ own the skin, although ownership alone does not establish broader demand. Buyers can compare the exterior, exact float value and standard, StatTrak or Souvenir version when selecting a copy.

History and Origin

AUG | Chameleon was released on February 20, 2014. Its debut accompanied the Operation Phoenix update and the introduction of the Operation Phoenix Weapon Case. Steam Workshop community designer Zaphk created the finish. The skin belongs to The Phoenix Collection, which also determines its collection-based trade-up route. Its accompanying flavor text emphasizes subtlety, complementing the contrast between the vivid animal and the restrained backdrop. The original case stopped dropping following the retirement of the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025. Existing Operation Phoenix Weapon Cases can still be purchased and opened, so case retirement did not remove that acquisition route. Today, direct marketplace purchases, player trades and eligible trade-up contracts offer alternatives to opening the case.

Finish Style

The Chameleon finish uses the Custom Paint Job style to place animal artwork across the rifle's body. Dark charcoal and olive gray establish the base palette without competing with the main illustration. A bright green and yellow chameleon occupies the rear stock, making that area the visual focus. Orange accents add another warm color, while the animal's legs extend across the side of the body. Its thin red-orange tongue follows the receiver's upper edge toward the front of the weapon. Subtle dark green curls fill the background beneath the animal, adding detail without matching its brightness. The black barrel, scope, vertical foregrip and ribbed magazine keep the surrounding components visually plain. With the artwork concentrated around the stock and rear receiver, the finish contrasts a detailed rear section with a subdued front assembly.

Float Value

The AUG | Chameleon float value ranges from 0.00 to 0.50. Available exteriors are Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred, so none of these exterior categories is excluded. StatTrak and Souvenir versions are also available, but those version labels remain separate from the exterior and float that describe cosmetic condition.

Rarity and Popularity

AUG | Chameleon has the Covert rarity grade. Its chance of appearing from the Operation Phoenix Weapon Case is 0.32%, making a case opening an uncertain route to this specific finish. Covert classification does not prevent direct acquisition through marketplace listings or player trades, and eligible trade-up contracts offer another possible route.

Why it’s Popular:

• Bright chameleon artwork against a dark rifle body

• Subdued front assembly with a colorful rear focal point

• Scoped AUG design for Counter-Terrorist loadouts

• Standard, StatTrak and Souvenir versions to compare

Price Range

The live AUG | Chameleon price range is $64.38 to $750.00. These bounds cover the skin as a whole, rather than fixed prices for particular exteriors or versions. Compare each copy's actual float value alongside its exterior label when assessing condition. Standard, StatTrak and Souvenir versions add another distinction, so matching version labels matters when comparing the CS2 skin price. Before buying, selling or trading, use the range as context and check the individual listing against the exact item being considered.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open the Operation Phoenix Weapon Case

Opening the Operation Phoenix Weapon Case offers a chance to obtain AUG | Chameleon. Its listed case-opening chance is 0.32%, so the result cannot be selected in advance. The case no longer drops, but existing cases can still be bought on the market and opened.

3. Trade Up Contracts

A trade-up contract using 10 Classified skins from The Phoenix Collection produces 1 Covert skin from that collection. Chameleon is a possible result, not a guaranteed outcome, because selection is random among the collection's Covert skins. Unlike a direct purchase, this route does not let the buyer choose the final skin.

4. Buy on the Steam Community Market

AUG | Chameleon can be purchased through listings on the Steam Community Market. Check the item's exterior and whether it is a standard, StatTrak or Souvenir version before completing a purchase.

5. Trade with Other Players

Player-to-player trades provide another way to acquire the finish without opening an Operation Phoenix Weapon Case. Confirm the exact skin, exterior, float and version in the trade offer before accepting the exchange.

Trading and Investment Considerations

The Phoenix case no longer gains supply through drops, but existing cases and trade-up contracts can still produce this Covert skin. Professional ownership offers some visibility, though it does not establish broad buying demand or how quickly a listing will sell. For a buy, sell or trade decision, compare matching versions and exteriors rather than relying on the overall price range alone.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Retired case with no new case drops

• Covert classification with a 0.32% case chance

• Ownership by dupreeh, Happy and TaZ

• StatTrak and Souvenir options for version-focused collectors

AUG | Chameleon receives a medium investment rating. Its retired case, Covert rarity and professional ownership support consideration, but they do not establish a reliable price trend. The main risk is uncertain resale demand, while trade-up contracts and existing case openings can continue adding skin copies despite the end of case drops.
