About this skin

How is a skin affected by its quality?

Exterior quality describes a copy's cosmetic condition, as determined by its float value. Slate spans 0.00 to 1.00 and is available from Factory New through Battle-Scarred; the exact float and item image help assess a particular copy.

How does the rarity of a skin work?

Rarity is a skin's grade and relates to its chance of appearing in a case opening. Slate is Restricted, with a 3.2% chance of being obtained from the Snakebite Case.

How much does AK-47 | Slate cost?

AK-47 | Slate ranges from $2.91 to $56.83. The bounds cover the whole skin, so compare individual listings by exterior, float and version.

Which case contains AK-47 | Slate?

AK-47 | Slate is contained in the Snakebite Case. The case no longer drops, but existing cases can still be bought on the market and opened.

What exteriors are available for AK-47 | Slate?

AK-47 | Slate comes in Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred. Its float range is 0.00 to 1.00.

Does AK-47 | Slate have StatTrak and Souvenir versions?

Yes, AK-47 | Slate is available in both StatTrak and Souvenir versions, alongside standard copies. Check the version separately from the exterior and float when comparing listings.

Short Description

AK-47 | Slate is a CS2 rifle skin with a black and dark slate gray finish. Subtle highlights, ribbed components and a matte stock give its monochrome design texture without prominent colored artwork. The look suits players building restrained, dark loadouts. All exteriors are available, alongside StatTrak™ and Souvenir versions.

Description

AK-47 | Slate gives the Terrorist-side rifle a restrained CS2 finish built around black and dark slate gray. Its Gunsmith finish uses a custom paint job rather than visible artwork or prominent colored markings. The receiver and upper metal surfaces carry subtle gray highlights that separate them visually from the darker components. Ribbing on the handguard and magazine adds structure, while the pistol grip contributes a finer texture. This approach suits players who prefer understated equipment and want the rifle's shape to remain the main visual feature. Professional owners include kennyS, Edward and s1mple, providing recognizable ownership examples without establishing how widely the skin is used. Buyers can choose standard, StatTrak and Souvenir versions across the available exterior range. Comparing the actual listing's image, float value and version helps distinguish individual copies beyond the shared Slate name.

History and Origin

The finish arrived on May 3, 2021, alongside the Snakebite Case. Its release was part of the Snakebite Case Skins update, establishing that case as its original opening route. Redesired created the design as a Steam Workshop community designer. The skin belongs to The Snakebite Collection, which also determines its collection-based trade-up route. Valve retired the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025, ending new Snakebite Case drops. Existing cases can still be purchased on the market and opened, so retirement did not remove the original acquisition method. Compatible trade-up contracts remain another way to obtain the finish as a possible Restricted result from its collection. Today, direct marketplace purchases and player-to-player trades provide alternatives for obtaining an existing copy without opening a case or completing a contract.

Finish Style

Slate uses a Gunsmith finish with a custom-painted palette centered on black and dark slate gray. These tones cover the receiver, barrel assembly, stock, pistol grip and curved magazine, giving the rifle a consistent monochrome identity. Subtle gray highlights break up the receiver and upper metal surfaces without introducing a contrasting accent color. The stock is mostly smooth and matte black, creating a quieter surface beside the textured components. Closely spaced ribs define the handguard and give its otherwise dark silhouette visible structure. A fine pattern textures the pistol grip, while raised ribs make the magazine's surface more distinct. The magazine also has a slightly lighter gray edge, providing a restrained change in tone rather than a bright outline. No visible artwork or prominent colored markings interrupt the finish, leaving the visual focus on surface textures, contours and small tonal differences.

Float Value

AK-47 | Slate has a float value range of 0.00 to 1.00. Available exteriors are Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred, so none of these exterior categories is excluded. StatTrak and Souvenir versions are also available, but version availability is separate from the exterior and float used to describe an individual copy's cosmetic condition.

Rarity and Popularity

AK-47 | Slate has the Restricted rarity grade within The Snakebite Collection. A Snakebite Case opening has a 3.2% chance of yielding this skin, approximately 1 in 31 openings. Although the case no longer drops, existing cases, trade-up contracts and circulating marketplace copies keep acquisition routes available; Restricted rarity does not mean the skin is unavailable.

Why it’s Popular:

• Black and slate gray styling suits monochrome loadouts

• Textured components add detail without prominent colored artwork

• StatTrak and Souvenir options offer additional collecting choices

• Professional ownership includes kennyS, Edward and s1mple

Price Range

The live AK-47 | Slate price range is $2.91 to $56.83. These bounds cover the whole skin rather than a particular exterior or version. Compare exterior and exact float together, since an exterior label alone does not fully describe an individual copy. Standard, StatTrak and Souvenir listings should be compared separately instead of treating their version labels as interchangeable. For a useful CS2 skin price comparison, match the relevant listing details and inspect the item image before choosing a copy to buy.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open the Snakebite Case

Open a Snakebite Case for a chance to receive AK-47 | Slate among its possible results. The case no longer drops, but existing containers can still be bought and opened. The skin's opening chance is 3.2%, so buying a specific listed copy avoids relying on a random case result.

3. Trade Up Contracts

Trade Up Contracts accept 10 Mil-Spec Grade skins from The Snakebite Collection for 1 Restricted skin from that collection. Slate is a possible outcome, but the result is random among the collection's Restricted skins. This route cannot select the finish in advance.

4. Buy on the Steam Community Market

Buy AK-47 | Slate on the Steam Community Market by selecting an existing listing rather than opening a case. Check the exterior, version and available item details before purchasing, especially when comparing standard copies with StatTrak or Souvenir listings.

5. Trade with Other Players

AK-47 | Slate can also be obtained through a trade with another player who owns a copy. Confirm that the offered item has the intended exterior, float and version before accepting, rather than relying only on its finish name.

Trading and Investment Considerations

The Snakebite Case no longer receives new drops, but existing cases can still produce additional Slate copies when opened. Trade-up contracts also offer a route to new copies, so case retirement does not freeze the skin's supply. Before deciding to buy, sell or trade, compare matching exteriors and versions; professional ownership alone does not establish resale demand or a future price trend.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Retired Snakebite Case drops limit new container supply

• Professional ownership includes kennyS, Edward and s1mple

• StatTrak and Souvenir versions offer distinct collecting options

• Monochrome styling suits restrained loadouts

AK-47 | Slate earns a medium-to-good editorial investment rating, supported by retired case drops, professional ownership and varied collecting options. Its main risk is continuing skin supply from existing cases and trade-ups, while sustained resale demand remains uncertain. Those factors favor careful listing comparisons rather than purchases based on an expectation of future gains.
