Karambit | Freehand

The ★ Karambit | Freehand is a CS2 knife skin with a curved blade and an Anodized Multicolored finish. Its purple-and-black blade carries dense silver-white artwork, contrasting with a mostly dark handle. The look suits players who prefer expressive, hand-drawn decoration and purple-themed inventories. Regular and StatTrak™ versions are available in every listed exterior, with no Souvenir edition.

Description

The ★ Karambit | Freehand brings an illustrated finish to a knife defined by its hooked blade and finger ring. Purple and black surfaces carry metallic-marker decoration, giving the weapon a busy, hand-drawn character rather than a plain color block. Irregular shapes and cartoon-like faces make the artwork playful while preserving the blade's distinctive outline. A mostly dark handle separates the decorated blade from the textured grip area. The Freehand finish suits players who want detailed artwork without extending that decoration across every part of the weapon. Valve created the skin, making it a Valve-designed option rather than a community-authored finish. Its available exteriors let buyers choose a cosmetic condition, while regular and StatTrak versions provide a separate version choice. Individual listings can be compared by exterior, float value, version, and inspection images before selecting a knife to use or trade.

History and Origin

The ★ Karambit | Freehand was released on June 15, 2016, alongside the Gamma Case. Its introduction formed part of the Gamma Case Skins update. Valve created the finish rather than a community designer. The underlying karambit design has roots in silat, a Southeast Asian martial discipline. Its curved blade takes inspiration from the shape of a tiger's claw. The knife is traditionally held in a reverse grip, with the index finger passing through its ring. Beyond its original Gamma Case source, the Freehand is also available from the Gamma 2 Case. As of October 9, 2026, neither case drops, following Valve's retirement of the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025. Existing cases can still be purchased and opened, while knives already in circulation remain obtainable through marketplace purchases and player trades.

Finish Style

Freehand uses the Anodized Multicolored finish style, with purple and black supporting metallic-marker decoration. Purple forms the main visible base across the curved blade, interrupted by smaller black areas. Dense silver-white artwork fills much of that surface instead of following a simple stripe or repeating geometric layout. The decoration includes uneven outlines, zigzags, abstract shapes, and small cartoon-like faces. These varied marks give the blade a loosely illustrated character within a limited color palette. The finger ring repeats the purple and silver-white treatment around its rim, visually connecting it to the blade. By contrast, the dark gray-black handle features fine textured panels and pronounced finger grooves rather than the same dense artwork. The result concentrates visual activity on the blade and ring while leaving the grip comparatively restrained.

Float Value

The ★ Karambit | Freehand has a float value range of 0.00 to 0.48. Available exteriors are Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred. Regular and StatTrak versions are available, but there is no Souvenir version; the version choice is separate from the knife's exterior condition.

Rarity and Popularity

The ★ Karambit | Freehand belongs to the Covert rarity grade. Its stated chance of appearing from the Gamma Case is 0.0085%, which should not be treated as a verified Gamma 2 Case probability. Although its case sources no longer drop, existing cases can still be opened and existing knives can be bought or traded.

Why it’s Popular:

• Purple blade with dense silver-white illustrations

• Cartoon-like faces and abstract marker artwork

• Decorated finger ring contrasts with the dark handle

• Regular and StatTrak options across all available exteriors

Price Range

The live ★ Karambit | Freehand price range is $432.31 to $1,046.99. These bounds cover the whole skin rather than a fixed exterior or version. Exterior and float value distinguish individual copies, so a condition label alone does not complete the comparison. Regular and StatTrak listings should also be checked separately, with inspection images helping buyers assess the offered knife. Players looking to buy, sell, or trade can compare matching versions and exteriors for a more useful CS2 skin price comparison.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open a Weapon Case

The knife can be obtained by opening a Gamma Case or Gamma 2 Case. Neither case receives new drops, but existing cases remain available to buy and open. The Freehand has a 0.0085% chance from the Gamma Case, so opening that case is an uncertain route to this specific knife.

3. Buy on the Steam Community Market

The ★ Karambit | Freehand can be bought on the Steam Community Market. Compare the exterior and whether the listing is regular or StatTrak before selecting a copy. Direct purchase lets buyers choose an existing listing instead of relying on a case outcome.

4. Trade with Other Players

Players can obtain the knife through a trade with another player who owns it. Check the offered item's exact name, exterior, float value, and StatTrak status before agreeing to the exchange. Compare equivalent listings when assessing the skins offered on either side of the trade.

Trading and Investment Considerations

Retired case sources prevent new case drops, but opening existing Gamma and Gamma 2 Cases can still add knives to circulation. Available regular and StatTrak listings give traders several exterior and version combinations to compare. Without a verified demand trend or price history, the skin's current price level does not establish a reliable short-term resale opportunity.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Retired case sources limit new case supply

• Distinctive purple blade with metallic-marker artwork

• Valve-created finish on a claw-shaped knife

• Regular and StatTrak versions offer different ownership options

The ★ Karambit | Freehand receives a medium investment rating. Retired case sources and a distinctive Valve-created finish support its collectible appeal, but do not establish future demand. The main risk is buying without a verified demand trend while existing case openings can still expand knife supply.
