AWP | Desert Hydra

AWP | Desert Hydra is a Covert CS2 sniper rifle skin from The 2021 Mirage Collection. Gold snake artwork curls across a red-orange body, contrasting with a pale scope and barrel. Its detailed, warm-toned finish suits players who prefer an elaborate rifle design. All exterior grades are available, with regular and Souvenir versions but no StatTrak™ option.

Description

AWP | Desert Hydra has a densely illustrated appearance built around intertwined snakes. Gold and brown shapes cover the receiver and stock, creating a connected design across the rifle's main body. The pale barrel and scope provide a clear visual break from those warmer colors. Small teal accents add another color without dominating the snake artwork. This is a Gunsmith finish, with custom-painted imagery forming its central visual feature. Its detailed look suits loadouts built around warm colors or contrasting pale accents. Regular and Souvenir copies give collectors separate version choices within the same finish. Buyers can compare exterior, float value, and version before choosing a listing that matches their preferred appearance and budget.

History and Origin

AWP | Desert Hydra was released on September 21, 2021, with the Operation Riptide update. It arrived as part of The 2021 Mirage Collection, connecting its original release to that collection rather than a named weapon case. Valve created the finish, rather than a community designer. Its hydra theme also appears in the flavor text, which describes a threat that multiplies when challenged. That text is attributed to Valeria Jenner, Revolutionary. The Souvenir edition is available through 8 Souvenir packages, including Stockholm 2021 Mirage Souvenir Package and Antwerp 2022 Mirage Souvenir Package. Today, Souvenir package openings and eligible Trade Up Contracts provide acquisition routes distinct from its historic introduction. Existing copies can also be bought on the Steam Community Market or obtained through player trades.

Finish Style

The Gunsmith finish combines a deep red-orange foundation with gold and brown snake illustrations. Overlapping coils run along the stock and receiver, giving the body a densely layered appearance. The snakes' heads extend toward the barrel, directing the artwork toward the rifle's front. The grip continues the warm background and snake imagery rather than introducing a separate color scheme. Off-white paint covers the barrel, scope, and rear butt plate, contrasting with the crowded body design. Fine reddish-brown lines and decorative markings add detail to those pale components. Small teal accents appear among the warmer shapes, interrupting the otherwise red, gold, and brown palette. Dark scope lenses complete the contrast between the light scope housing and its darker optical elements.

Float Value

The float value range for AWP | Desert Hydra is 0.00 to 0.60. Available exteriors are Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred, with none of those exterior categories missing. Regular and Souvenir versions exist, but there is no StatTrak version; version availability is separate from a copy's cosmetic condition.

Rarity and Popularity

AWP | Desert Hydra has Covert rarity within The 2021 Mirage Collection. Its acquisition chance from that collection is 0.026%, which describes acquisition odds rather than the number of copies available for sale. Supported professional ownership includes coldzera, kennyS, and olofmeister, though ownership alone does not establish resale demand.

Why it’s Popular:

• Gold-and-brown snake artwork gives the rifle a distinctive visual identity

• Pale barrel and scope contrast with the richly colored body

• Small teal accents complement the warm red-orange palette

• Souvenir availability offers an alternative to regular collection copies

Price Range

The live AWP | Desert Hydra price range is $753.10 to $4,267.31. These bounds cover the whole skin, not a particular exterior or version. Factory New through Battle-Scarred options provide several condition categories, but an exterior label does not replace an individual float check. Regular and Souvenir listings should also be distinguished before comparing offers. Before you buy, sell, or trade this CS2 skin, compare prices for matching versions and exteriors, then check each copy's float.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open a Souvenir Package

Open an eligible Mirage Souvenir Package for a chance to obtain the Souvenir version of this skin. The finish appears in 8 packages, including Stockholm 2021 Mirage Souvenir Package and Antwerp 2022 Mirage Souvenir Package, but opening one does not guarantee Desert Hydra.

3. Trade Up Contracts

A Trade Up Contract uses 10 Classified skins from The 2021 Mirage Collection to produce 1 Covert skin from that collection. The result is random among the collection's Covert skins, so Desert Hydra is a possible outcome rather than a guaranteed result.

4. Buy on the Steam Community Market

AWP | Desert Hydra can be bought directly on the Steam Community Market by selecting an available listing. Check its exterior, individual float, and regular or Souvenir status so the chosen copy matches the intended purchase.

5. Trade with Other Players

The skin can also be acquired through a trade with another player. Confirm the offered copy's exterior, float, and version, then compare equivalent listings rather than judging the exchange by the finish name alone.

Trading and Investment Considerations

Market listings include regular and Souvenir copies, but the size of the overall supply and its movement over time remain uncertain. Professional ownership gives the finish visibility, while its high price level makes careful variant comparisons important. Future demand and resale speed are uncertain, so neither rarity nor ownership should be treated as evidence of predictable short-term profits.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Covert rarity within The 2021 Mirage Collection

• Distinctive gold snake artwork and warm color palette

• Regular and Souvenir versions offer separate collecting options

• Professional ownership includes coldzera, kennyS, and olofmeister

AWP | Desert Hydra receives a medium investment rating, balancing Covert rarity, professional ownership, and Souvenir availability against its high entry price. The main risk is committing substantial value without evidence of consistent resale demand or an established price-growth trend.
