New RTS Tempest Rising Premiers In April 2025

Saber Interactive’s 3D Realms label and Knights Peak recently announced the release of their latest creation, a real-time strategy game, Tempest Rising, set in 1997 on an imaginary Earth where the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 went nuclear.
In the aftermath, an electric vine called the Tempest spread across the planet and altered the path of our history as we know it.
“Tempest Rising gives players full command as they build up their bases, lead armies into battle, and execute bold strategies to emerge victorious,” the press release said.
Players can take on the role of either the Global Defence Forces or Tempest Dynasty, the only two remaining factions in two campaigns with promises of customization options to change their approach to the game either as a solo player and as part of multiplayer mode.

The Free Demo Already Available
Those eager to play Tempest Rising can take on the first four missions as a single player in Skirmish Mode in the free demo open until March. According to the press release, this should be good for up to 2 hours worth of game play.
Even though limited, the demo version features three maps where aspiring leaders of the two factions can take on the game’s AI in what the game devs call: “The true spiritual successor to the RTS classics of the 90s and 2000s.”
