Last week Microsoft has revealed their latest player numbers for Minecraft and once again reclaimed the title as the king of blocks. Just a few months ago we’ve posted news regarding Roblox player numbers, which surpassed Minecraft, however, the lead is now gone.

In a new interview with Business Insider, the head of Minecraft team Helen Chiang told that Minecraft currently has more than 112 million monthly players, which is a staggering amount, to say the least. This number accounts players from all platforms including console and mobile, but only counts players who logged into Minecraft during July. Additionally, we should keep in mind that last year Minecraft had around 91 million monthly players which means that over the course of the year the popular building-survival game acquired another 20+ million fans.

It’s also worth pointing out that last July Microsoft also revealed that Minecraft already sold over 176 million copies which made it the best-selling video game of all time, but the active player count is not just the games sold. Minecraft is also a part of Xbox Game Pass, which accumulated for the majority of active players number.

One thing is clear though… Minecraft will continue to grow. The new mobile game Minecraft Earth is now in beta and should be released very soon. There’s also Minecraft Dungeons game which should be released sometime in 2020.
