M4A4 | Desolate Space

M4A4 | Desolate Space is a CS2 rifle skin for the Counter-Terrorist side, built around densely illustrated space imagery. A skull inside an astronaut helmet anchors its purple, cyan and yellow-green artwork. The look suits players who prefer detailed illustrations and contrasting colors over restrained finishes. It comes in every exterior from Factory New to Battle-Scarred, with standard, StatTrak™ and Souvenir versions available.

Description

M4A4 | Desolate Space gives the Counter-Terrorist assault rifle a space-themed Custom Paint Job. The M4A4 offers greater accuracy but less damage than its AK-47 counterpart, pairing this illustrated finish with a full-auto rifle. Its central visual feature is a skull enclosed in a rounded astronaut helmet on the receiver. The astronaut's suit continues onto the magazine, connecting the main artwork across separate weapon components. Cyan skeletal and mechanical-looking details add another layer of imagery around the rear receiver and pistol grip. Lavender accents on the muzzle, front sight and stock frame contrast with the darker purple areas. This finish suits loadouts built around purple and cyan, especially when detailed weapon artwork is the priority. Buyers can compare exterior condition, exact float and available versions rather than treating every copy as an identical purchase.

History and Origin

M4A4 | Desolate Space was released in CS:GO on June 15, 2016, alongside the Gamma Case. Its arrival was part of the Gamma Case Skins update. Steam Workshop community designer Andy created the finish. The skin belongs to The Gamma Collection, which also provides its collection identity for trade-up contracts. Valve retired the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025. As of October 9, 2026, the Gamma Case no longer drops, although existing cases can still be bought and opened. Today, finished copies can be bought on marketplaces or acquired through player trades, while eligible collection trade-ups provide another possible route.

Finish Style

The palette combines deep purple with bright cyan and yellow-green accents. Lavender covers the muzzle, front sight and stock frame, carrying a lighter color onto the rifle's outer components. On the receiver, a skull sits inside a rounded astronaut helmet and forms the main focal point. The figure's suit extends down the magazine, giving the central illustration continuity beyond the receiver. Cyan skeletal and mechanical-looking shapes occupy the rear receiver and pistol grip. The handguard contains segmented space imagery crossed by thin pale lines and yellow highlights. Cyan streaks and small pale markings decorate the stock over its purple background. Together, these painted elements give the Custom Paint Job a busy, densely illustrated character rather than a restrained color treatment.

Float Value

M4A4 | Desolate Space has a float range of 0.00 to 1.00. Its available exteriors are Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred, covering the full exterior lineup. Standard, StatTrak and Souvenir versions exist, but version availability is separate from the cosmetic condition represented by the exterior and float.

Rarity and Popularity

M4A4 | Desolate Space is a Classified skin from The Gamma Collection. Its chance of appearing when opening the Gamma Case is 1.07%, so opening the correct case does not make this particular result likely. The case no longer receives new drops, but existing cases can still be opened and finished skins remain available through marketplaces and trades.

Why it’s Popular:

• Astronaut helmet and skull artwork create a clear focal point

• Purple, cyan and yellow-green give the rifle strong color contrast

• Detailed illustrations extend across the receiver, magazine, grip and stock

• Standard, StatTrak and Souvenir versions offer different collecting options

Price Range

The live CS2 skin price range for M4A4 | Desolate Space is $10.32 to $131.29. These bounds cover the whole skin, not a fixed exterior or version. Standard, StatTrak and Souvenir listings occupy different price levels, making version checks important before comparing asking prices. Exterior labels narrow the search, while exact float values and listing images allow a more precise comparison. For a buy, sell or trade decision, compare copies with matching versions and conditions rather than treating the overall range as an individual valuation.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open the Gamma Case

Open the Gamma Case for a chance to receive M4A4 | Desolate Space, with a 1.07% chance. The case no longer drops, but existing cases can still be bought on the market and opened.

3. Trade Up Contracts

A trade-up contract using 10 Restricted skins from The Gamma Collection produces 1 Classified skin from that collection. The result is random among its Classified skins, so M4A4 | Desolate Space is a possible outcome rather than a guaranteed reward.

4. Buy on the Steam Community Market

Buy M4A4 | Desolate Space directly through the Steam Community Market by selecting a listing for the desired exterior and version. Check those details carefully, since standard, StatTrak and Souvenir copies should not be treated as interchangeable purchases.

5. Trade with Other Players

Acquire the finish by trading with another player who owns a copy. Before accepting, verify the item's exterior, float and version against the copy being offered, especially when exchanging it for other skins.

Trading and Investment Considerations

The retired Gamma Case receives no new drops, although existing cases and trade-up contracts can still add copies of this skin. Ownership by tarik, mixwell and karrigan provides professional visibility, but does not establish future buying demand. Compare standard, StatTrak and Souvenir listings by exterior and float, since the finish spans distinct price segments without a verified price trend.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Retired Gamma Case supply receives no new drops

• Documented ownership by professional players

• Distinctive astronaut artwork and contrasting colors

• StatTrak and Souvenir options expand collecting choices

• Full exterior availability supports varied buying preferences

The editorial investment rating is medium-to-good, supported by retired case supply, documented professional ownership and varied collecting options. The main risk is uncertain future demand while existing case openings and trade-up contracts can still increase skin supply. Those factors favor selective buying over assuming that every exterior or version will appreciate.
