M249 | Spectre

M249 | Spectre is a CS2 heavy weapon skin that combines pale patterned panels with a dark frame and yellow-orange accents. Its matte appearance and angular borders give the machine gun a contemporary, industrial character. The finish suits players who prefer neutral colors with a small amount of bright detailing. All exterior tiers are available, alongside StatTrak™ and Souvenir versions.

Description

M249 | Spectre is a CS2 skin for the M249, using a Custom Paint Job finish rather than a uniform color treatment. The weapon favors open-area engagements, pairing accuracy and substantial ammunition capacity with a slower firing rate. White and light gray patches cover its main panels, creating a mottled, camouflage-like appearance. Broad black and dark gray sections frame those patches and keep the weapon's individual components visually distinct. Yellow-orange detailing adds contrast along the receiver and around smaller fittings without dominating the palette. This combination suits players building neutral-colored loadouts who still want a visible accent on their heavy weapon. Buyers can choose a regular copy or look for the available StatTrak and Souvenir alternatives. Comparing the exterior, exact float value and listing images helps distinguish copies beyond the shared Spectre finish name.

History and Origin

M249 | Spectre was released in CS:GO on April 27, 2016. It arrived through the Chroma 3 Case as part of the Chroma 3 Case Skins update. Steam Workshop community designer Dirp created the finish. The skin belongs to The Chroma 3 Collection, linking its collection identity to that original case release. Its flavor text references an approaching Phoenix civil war, providing a narrative detail separate from the visual design. The Chroma 3 Case no longer drops following Valve's retirement of the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025. Existing cases can still be bought and opened, so the historical case route remains available without new case drops. Players can also obtain an existing skin through marketplace purchases or trades rather than opening its original container.

Finish Style

The Spectre finish uses a Custom Paint Job to combine patterned surfaces with broad, dark structural sections. Its receiver carries irregular white and light gray patches, interrupted by darker gray shapes rather than a repeating geometric motif. The box magazine panels continue that mottled treatment, extending the pale design below the receiver. Similar patches appear on the stock, while dark edging gives that section a clearly defined border. The barrel, grip and frame are mostly black or dark gray, creating separation between the patterned areas. Bright yellow-orange accents follow the upper front and lower receiver, drawing attention to the weapon's longer horizontal lines. Smaller accents on the sights and side details repeat that color without covering large surfaces. Mostly matte surfaces and crisp angular boundaries give the busy patches a controlled, contemporary appearance rather than a glossy decorative look.

Float Value

M249 | Spectre has a float range of 0.00 to 0.50. Its available exteriors are Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred, covering every exterior tier. StatTrak and Souvenir versions also exist, but the version label should be checked separately from a copy's float value and cosmetic condition.

Rarity and Popularity

M249 | Spectre is a Mil-Spec Grade skin in The Chroma 3 Collection. Its stated chance from the Chroma 3 Case is 11.42%, which makes case opening a chance-based acquisition route rather than a direct purchase. It is one of 51 machinegun skins, and documented professional owners include FalleN, apEX and tarik.

Why it’s Popular:

• Pale patterned panels contrast clearly with the dark frame

• Yellow-orange accents add color without overwhelming the design

• Every exterior tier offers a different condition choice

• StatTrak and Souvenir options broaden its collecting appeal

Price Range

The live M249 | Spectre CS2 skin price range is $0.18 to $20.00. These bounds cover the whole skin, not fixed prices for particular exteriors or versions. Compare each listing's exterior and exact float rather than treating the condition label as the complete description. Regular, StatTrak and Souvenir versions should be checked separately so the advertised item matches the intended purchase. Listing images are also useful for deciding whether a particular copy's visible condition suits the pale panels and dark framing.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open the Chroma 3 Case

Open the Chroma 3 Case for a chance to obtain M249 | Spectre, with a stated drop chance of 11.42%. The case no longer drops, but existing cases can still be bought on the market and opened. Opening one does not guarantee this skin, so purchasing an existing copy is the direct route to the specific finish.

3. Buy on the Steam Community Market

M249 | Spectre can be bought on the Steam Community Market as an existing item rather than a case-opening outcome. Check the listing's exterior and version, then inspect its float and appearance when those details are available before choosing a copy.

4. Trade with Other Players

Players can obtain M249 | Spectre by trading with other players who already own it. Compare the offered copy's exterior, float and version against the item being sought. Confirm the skin and its details in the trade offer rather than relying only on a description of the exchange.

Trading and Investment Considerations

With no new Chroma 3 Cases dropping, the case-opening route depends on existing case stock, although openings can still add Spectre copies. Its low price level and documented professional ownership provide context, but neither establishes sustained buying demand or a historical price trend. When looking to buy, sell or trade, compare like-for-like exteriors and versions before judging an individual listing.

Reasons it Holds Value

• No new Chroma 3 Case drops

• Documented ownership by professional players

• Distinctive pale panels and yellow-orange accents

• Available StatTrak and Souvenir collecting options

A medium investment rating reflects the retired case supply, inexpensive market positioning and documented professional ownership. Existing cases can still generate more copies, and demand trends remain uncertain, so case retirement should not be treated as a promise of appreciation.
