Short Description

M249 | Magma is a CS2 Heavy weapon skin with a dark copper patina finish. Red-orange streaks break across its black and brown body, contrasting with a pale olive magazine. The look suits players who prefer warm metallic details against darker surfaces. Exterior choices span Factory New through Battle-Scarred, and StatTrak™ and Souvenir versions are available.

Description

M249 | Magma gives the M249 light machine gun a copper-based finish with a heat-darkened appearance. The weapon favors accuracy and high ammunition capacity over firing speed, fitting its role in open areas. Its broad receiver carries irregular red-orange marks that resemble branching veins of molten material. A largely unpatterned olive magazine provides a calmer contrast beneath the detailed body. This finish suits darker loadouts that need some warm color without an entirely bright weapon. Buyers can choose among all available exterior categories rather than being limited to a narrow condition selection. Standard, StatTrak and Souvenir copies offer different ownership options within the same finish. Compare the actual float, version label and listing images before choosing a copy to buy.

History and Origin

M249 | Magma arrived in CS:GO on December 18, 2013, as part of the Winter Offensive update. Its release included the Winter Offensive Weapon Case, which remains the skin's case-opening source. Steam Workshop community designer Algis created the finish. The skin belongs to The Winter Offensive Collection, giving collectors a specific collection identity to follow. Valve retired the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025, and the Winter Offensive Weapon Case no longer drops. Existing cases can still be purchased on the market and opened, separating current availability from new case supply. Today, players can also obtain an existing skin directly through marketplace purchases or trades with other players.

Finish Style

Magma uses the Patina finish style, with copper plating forming the basis of its metallic appearance. Masking defines the magma design, while sodium chloride and high heat produce the reddish patina. Areas outside that masking are darkened through oxidation using liver of sulfur. Across the receiver and stock, the result combines deep brown and black with copper and red-orange markings. Those markings alternate between narrow branching streaks and broader angular patches, giving the body an uneven, fractured look. Reflective metallic accents pick out several edges and raised details against the darker surfaces. The long barrel stays dark gray, with lighter silver-gray rings appearing near the muzzle. A mostly plain, pale olive-green box magazine contrasts with the intricate treatment on the main body.

Float Value

The float value range for M249 | Magma is 0.00 to 0.70. Available exteriors are Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred, so none of these exterior categories is missing. StatTrak and Souvenir versions also exist, but version type is separate from the cosmetic condition described by exterior and float.

Rarity and Popularity

M249 | Magma is classified as Mil-Spec Grade. Its chance of appearing from the Winter Offensive Weapon Case is 19.98%, although opening a case does not guarantee this skin. Professional players boltz, ScreaM and n0thing have owned it, providing documented ownership without establishing how quickly a listed copy will sell.

Why it’s Popular:

• Copper and red-orange details stand out against the dark body

• Branching magma marks give the receiver a distinctive texture

• All exterior categories offer condition choices

• StatTrak and Souvenir versions provide additional collecting options

Price Range

The live M249 | Magma CS2 skin price range is $1.00 to $30.00. These bounds cover the skin as a whole, not a particular exterior or version. Compare exterior, exact float and standard, StatTrak or Souvenir status when assessing individual listings, rather than assuming matching finish names mean matching prices. Before a buy, sell or trade decision, check the item's images and current asking price against comparable copies.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open the Winter Offensive Weapon Case

Open the Winter Offensive Weapon Case for a 19.98% chance of receiving M249 | Magma, rather than a guaranteed result. The case no longer drops, but existing copies can still be bought on the market and opened.

3. Buy on the Steam Community Market

Buy M249 | Magma on the Steam Community Market to select a listed copy directly instead of relying on a case opening. Check its exterior, float and version label, particularly when choosing between standard, StatTrak and Souvenir options.

4. Trade with Other Players

M249 | Magma can be obtained by trading with other players who already own a copy. Compare the offered item's float, exterior and version with the intended purchase before agreeing to the exchange.

Trading and Investment Considerations

No new Winter Offensive Weapon Cases drop, but existing cases can still produce additional Magma skins when opened. Professional ownership offers visibility without proving resale demand, so compare available versions carefully rather than assuming strong liquidity or a dependable price trend.

Reasons it Holds Value

• No new Winter Offensive Weapon Case drops

• Documented ownership by professional players

• Standard, StatTrak and Souvenir collecting options

• Distinctive copper patina and magma detailing

M249 | Magma receives a medium investment rating, balancing its retired case source and modest price level against uncertain resale demand. Its main risk is unclear liquidity: professional ownership and version variety do not establish how quickly a copy will sell or support promised returns.
