About this skin

How is a skin affected by its quality?

Quality describes exterior condition and is linked to float value, not rarity. Downtown ranges from Factory New to Battle-Scarred; inspect each copy's image for its actual wear.

How does the rarity of a skin work?

Rarity is a skin's item grade, separate from its exterior condition. Downtown is Restricted, with a 3.2% chance of appearing in a Recoil Case opening.

How much does M249 | Downtown cost?

Short Description

M249 | Downtown is a CS2 heavy machine gun skin covered in colorful graffiti-style arrows. Cyan, blue, pink, and purple markings contrast with its dark barrel and stock. The look suits players who prefer busy, colorful weapon designs. Factory New through Battle-Scarred exteriors are available, alongside StatTrak™ and Souvenir versions.

Description

M249 | Downtown brings a colorful Custom Paint Job to a CS2 heavy machine gun. Directional arrows define the finish, with blue and pink supported by cyan and purple accents. A dark base provides a clear backdrop for the overlapping markings. The M249 emphasizes high ammunition capacity and accuracy in open areas, balanced by a slower firing rate. Its receiver and box magazine carry the busiest artwork, making Downtown a fit for graffiti-inspired loadouts. The mostly plain barrel and stock offer contrast for players who prefer color concentrated around the weapon's center. Standard, StatTrak, and Souvenir versions give buyers several options when choosing an item. Before buying, compare the exterior, float value, version, and visible condition of individual copies.

History and Origin

M249 | Downtown arrived on July 1, 2022, with the Recoil Case. It was introduced through the "Recoil Case Skins" update. The finish was created by The Honey Badger, a Steam Workshop community designer. It belongs to The Recoil Collection, linking it to that release's weapon set. Valve retired the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025. As of October 9, 2026, the Recoil Case no longer drops. Existing cases remain available to buy on the market and open, so retirement did not remove that acquisition route. Players can also obtain individual copies through marketplace purchases, player trades, or eligible trade-up contracts.

Finish Style

Downtown uses a Custom Paint Job to give the M249's central body a graffiti-style appearance. Bright cyan and blue markings share a dark base with pink and purple accents. Large angular arrows overlap across the receiver and box magazine, pointing in different directions. Jagged lines, small dots, and scattered paint-like shapes fill the spaces around them. Purple covers much of the front receiver and extends onto the upright front sight. The barrel and lower support parts remain mostly dark gray. The rear stock is similarly restrained, carrying a faint outlined marking rather than dense graffiti. This arrangement concentrates the color on the body and magazine, leaving comparatively plain sections at either end.

Float Value

Downtown has a float value range of 0.00 to 0.65. It is available in Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred, with no exterior category missing. Standard, StatTrak, and Souvenir versions are available; version choice is separate from a copy's cosmetic condition.

Rarity and Popularity

M249 | Downtown belongs to the Restricted rarity grade. It has a 3.2% chance of appearing in a Recoil Case opening. Professional players s1mple, tarik, and daps own the skin, although ownership alone does not establish resale demand.

Why it’s Popular:

• Colorful arrows give the receiver and magazine a distinctive appearance

• Dark barrel and stock balance the busy graffiti design

• All exterior categories are available

• StatTrak and Souvenir versions offer additional choices

Price Range

The live M249 | Downtown CS2 skin price range is $0.29 to $60.00. These bounds cover the whole skin, not fixed exterior or version pairings. Exterior and version are useful comparison points, especially when separating standard listings from StatTrak copies. Check the exact float value and listing images alongside the asking price. For a Souvenir purchase, confirm that the individual listing identifies that version before comparing it with other offers.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open the Recoil Case

M249 | Downtown can be obtained by opening a Recoil Case. Existing cases can still be bought and opened, although no new cases drop. An opening is random, unlike purchasing a specific copy with a known exterior and float.

3. Trade Up Contracts

A Trade Up Contract can use 10 Mil-Spec Grade skins from The Recoil Collection to produce 1 Restricted skin from that collection. Downtown is a possible result, but the outcome is random among the collection's Restricted skins.

4. Buy on the Steam Community Market

Buy M249 | Downtown through a Steam Community Market listing when a suitable copy is available. Inspect the item and check its exterior, float value, and version before purchasing.

5. Trade with Other Players

Player-to-player trades provide another way to obtain Downtown by exchanging items with another owner. Confirm the exact skin, exterior, float value, and version before agreeing to the exchange.

Trading and Investment Considerations

The Recoil Case receives no new drops, but existing cases and trade-up contracts can still add Downtown copies. Its accessible price level provides market context, while reliable price trends and resale demand remain uncertain. Compare matching exteriors and versions before deciding to buy, sell, or trade.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Recoil Case no longer receives new drops

• Ownership by s1mple, tarik, and daps

• Distinctive blue-and-pink graffiti design

• Standard, StatTrak, and Souvenir options

The editorial investment rating is medium, reflecting retired case drops, an accessible price level, and professional ownership. Those factors support consideration as a modest holding, not an expectation of appreciation. The main risk is continued supply from openings and trade-ups while resale demand remains uncertain.
