About this skin

How is a skin affected by its quality?

Quality describes the skin's exterior condition, which is tied to its float value. Rust Coat has a 0.40 to 1.00 float range and is available only in Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred.

How does the rarity of a skin work?

Rarity is the item's classification, separate from its exterior condition. Rust Coat is Covert, with a stated 0.0085% chance from the Chroma Case.

How much does ★ Gut Knife | Rust Coat cost?

The live range is $41.14 to $287.81. It covers the whole skin, so compare each listing's exterior, float and version.

Which cases contain ★ Gut Knife | Rust Coat?

The Chroma Case, Chroma 2 Case and Chroma 3 Case contain the knife. These cases no longer drop, but existing cases can still be bought on the market and opened.

What exteriors are available for ★ Gut Knife | Rust Coat?

Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred are the available exteriors, within a 0.40 to 1.00 float range.

Does ★ Gut Knife | Rust Coat have a StatTrak version?

Yes, ★ Gut Knife | Rust Coat is available with StatTrak as well as in a standard version. There is no Souvenir version.

Short Description

★ Gut Knife | Rust Coat is a CS2 knife skin with a mottled metal blade and a reddish-brown handle. Scattered rust patches, pale cutting edges and a prominent gut hook give it a weathered, practical appearance. The finish suits players who prefer rough metal textures to decorative artwork. It comes in Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred, with standard and StatTrak™ versions available.

Description

★ Gut Knife | Rust Coat applies a Patina finish to the Gut Knife, making surface texture the focus of this CS2 skin. Gray and blue-gray metal mix with brown rust rather than forming a uniform painted coating. The curved blade includes a gut hook near the tip and a short serrated section along its spine. A streaked reddish-brown handle adds warmth against the cooler blade colors. There is no lettering or decorative artwork, leaving the knife's shape and irregular surfaces visible. Its understated, weathered appearance suits loadouts built around earthy colors or exposed metal. Buyers can choose a standard version or a StatTrak version without changing the underlying Rust Coat design. Comparing the exterior, exact float value and listing images helps separate condition preferences from the choice of version.

History and Origin

The finish debuted on January 8, 2015, alongside the Chroma Case. Its introduction was part of the Chroma Case Skins update. Valve created the design rather than a community artist. The original concept presents rusted equipment that remains functional, emphasizing age on the surface rather than a broken weapon. The Chroma 2 Case and Chroma 3 Case also provide an opening route for this knife. Valve retired the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025. As of October 9, 2026, the Chroma Case, Chroma 2 Case and Chroma 3 Case no longer drop. Existing cases can still be bought on the market and opened, so their retirement has not removed the case-opening acquisition route.

Finish Style

Rust Coat uses the Patina finish style, with an uneven metallic appearance rather than a clean graphic treatment. The blade's main colors are gray and blue-gray, interrupted by scattered brown corrosion patches. These irregular marks create a mottled texture instead of a repeating decorative pattern. Pale silvery areas remain visible along the broad cutting edge, contrasting with the darker blade surface. The curved profile, gut hook and short spine serrations give the textured metal a distinctive outline. The handle is reddish brown, with darker streaks and a smooth surface that catches some light. Three round metal fasteners sit along it, while gray metal remains visible around the edges and at the butt. With no lettering or artwork, the finish relies on contrasts between the blade's rough appearance and the handle's smoother texture.

Float Value

The float value of ★ Gut Knife | Rust Coat ranges from 0.40 to 1.00. Its available exteriors are Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred, with no Factory New, Minimal Wear or Field-Tested versions. Standard and StatTrak versions are available, but there is no Souvenir version; this version choice is separate from cosmetic condition.

Rarity and Popularity

★ Gut Knife | Rust Coat has the Covert rarity grade. Its stated drop chance from the Chroma Case is 0.0085%, which should not be treated as a confirmed probability for the other cases. Professional player f0rest owns the skin, providing a concrete ownership example without establishing broader market demand.

Why it’s Popular:

• Mottled rust gives the blade a weathered, practical look

• Reddish-brown handle contrasts with gray and blue-gray metal

• Distinctive gut hook keeps the knife's shape recognizable

• StatTrak availability adds a version choice for players

Price Range

The live CS2 skin price range is $41.14 to $287.81. These bounds cover the whole item, not a particular exterior or version. Buyers should compare Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred listings according to their preferred condition rather than assuming either always represents a price endpoint. Standard and StatTrak copies should also be checked separately when assessing an offer. Exact float values, listing images and the current asking price help buyers compare copies with similar specifications.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open a Weapon Case

Opening a Chroma Case, Chroma 2 Case or Chroma 3 Case can produce this knife, but the result is not assured. The stated chance from the Chroma Case is 0.0085%. These cases no longer drop, although existing stock can still be purchased on the market and opened.

3. Buy on the Steam Community Market

The Steam Community Market offers a direct purchase route for ★ Gut Knife | Rust Coat instead of relying on a case opening. Buyers should check whether a listing is Well-Worn or Battle-Scarred and whether it includes StatTrak before choosing a copy.

4. Trade with Other Players

Player-to-player trading provides another route to acquire the knife by exchanging items with another owner. The offered copy's exterior, exact float and StatTrak status should match the intended trade. Inspecting its appearance also helps confirm that the rust texture suits the buyer's preferences.

Trading and Investment Considerations

Retired case drops limit replenishment of unopened case supply, but opening existing stock can still add Rust Coat knives to circulation. Professional player f0rest owns the skin, but broader demand and price trends remain uncertain. Traders looking to buy, sell or trade should compare exterior, float and StatTrak status rather than treating every available copy as interchangeable.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Retired cases limit replenishment of unopened supply

• Verified ownership by professional player f0rest

• Distinctive rust texture and gut-hook silhouette

• StatTrak availability offers an additional buyer option

The investment rating is medium, balancing retired case supply and professional ownership against uncertain broader demand. Existing case openings can still produce the knife, so case retirement does not make the skin's circulating supply fixed. The main risk is resale uncertainty, with no established price trend supporting an expectation of gains.
