Gut Knife | Case Hardened

The ★ Gut Knife | Case Hardened is a CS2 knife skin pairing a multicolored metallic blade with a reddish-brown wooden handle. Its cyan, blue, gold and purple tones suit players who prefer a busy blade finish over a uniform color scheme. All exterior grades are available, with standard and StatTrak™ versions.

Description

The ★ Gut Knife | Case Hardened brings a mottled metallic finish to the Gut Knife in CS2. The hook on the blade's spine gives the weapon a distinctive outline alongside its mixed colors. Bright blue areas contrast with gold-yellow metal, while smaller purple accents add another tone to the finish. A wooden handle provides a warmer, simpler counterpart to the blade's irregular coloring. Its Patina finish emphasizes the treated metal rather than a graphic illustration. The look suits loadouts built around mixed metal tones or warm wooden accents. Standard and StatTrak versions provide a separate ownership choice from the knife's cosmetic condition. Buyers can compare exterior, float value and the visible finish in each listing before selecting a copy.

History and Origin

The ★ Gut Knife | Case Hardened was released in CS:GO on August 14, 2013, through the CS:GO Weapon Case. Its introduction accompanied the Arms Deal update. Valve created the finish, rather than a community designer. Other case sources include the eSports 2013 Case, Operation Bravo Case and CS:GO Weapon Case 2. It also appears in the eSports 2013 Winter Case, Winter Offensive Weapon Case, CS:GO Weapon Case 3 and Operation Phoenix Weapon Case. The eSports 2014 Summer Case, Operation Vanguard Weapon Case and Revolver Case complete its case sources. Valve retired the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025. As of October 9, 2026, none of these cases receive new drops, although existing cases can still be bought and opened. Current acquisition routes include opening those remaining cases, buying the knife on marketplaces and trading with other players.

Finish Style

Case Hardened uses a Patina finish, with its color treatment produced by heating the metal with wood charcoal. On the pictured blade, cyan and blue areas sit among gold-yellow patches and smaller purple accents. Blue is most pronounced along the lower cutting edge. The upper blade and hooked spine lean toward muted gold and gray. The irregular patches create a busy surface rather than a single, even block of color. The curved handle is reddish brown, with visible wood grain and three round metal fasteners. Exposed metal around the handle and the loop at its base show darker blue and purple coloring. That simpler wooden grip contrasts with the blade's mottled metal and keeps the materials visually distinct.

Float Value

The ★ Gut Knife | Case Hardened has a float range of 0.00 to 1.00. It is available in Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred, so no exterior grade is excluded. Standard and StatTrak versions are available; version choice is separate from exterior condition.

Rarity and Popularity

The ★ Gut Knife | Case Hardened has the Covert rarity grade. Its stated drop chance from the CS:GO Weapon Case is 0.0039%, which should not be assumed to apply to every compatible case. Existing copies can be bought or traded, and remaining compatible cases can still be opened despite their retired drop status.

Why it’s Popular:

• Mottled blue, cyan, gold and purple blade colors

• Distinctive hook along the blade's spine

• Warm wooden handle contrasts with the metallic finish

• Standard and StatTrak options

• Every exterior grade is available

Price Range

The live ★ Gut Knife | Case Hardened price range is $86.99 to $2,371.96. These bounds cover the whole skin, not a particular exterior or version. Compare exterior and float value together rather than relying on the wear label alone. Standard and StatTrak listings should also be checked separately when comparing CS2 skin prices. Before choosing where to buy, inspect the pictured finish and confirm that the listing matches the desired condition and version.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open a Weapon Case

Open a compatible case, such as the CS:GO Weapon Case, Operation Bravo Case or Revolver Case, for a chance at this knife. The stated chance from the CS:GO Weapon Case is 0.0039%. Compatible cases no longer drop, but existing stock can still be bought on the market and opened.

3. Buy on the Steam Community Market

Buy the ★ Gut Knife | Case Hardened through the Steam Community Market rather than relying on a case opening. Check the exterior and whether the listing is standard or StatTrak. Review any available float and appearance details before choosing a copy.

4. Trade with Other Players

Obtain the knife through a player-to-player trade with someone who owns a copy. Confirm the exact item name, exterior and StatTrak status before accepting. Compare the visible finish and float value alongside the items being offered in exchange.

Trading and Investment Considerations

Its source cases no longer drop, so openings reduce the remaining case supply without replacement from new drops. Existing knives remain available through marketplaces and trades, but demand trends and resale speed are uncertain. Compare standard and StatTrak versions by float, exterior and visible finish when deciding whether to buy, sell or trade.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Source cases no longer receive new drops

• Distinctive multicolor patina with a wooden handle

• Standard and StatTrak versions offer different ownership options

• Broad exterior availability gives buyers condition choices

The editorial investment rating is medium, supported by retired source cases and a distinctive finish with standard and StatTrak options. Price history and demand trends remain uncertain, limiting the case for a stronger rating. The main risk is that shrinking case supply may not translate into stronger resale demand or higher prices.
