SSG 08 | Ghost Crusader

SSG 08 | Ghost Crusader is a CS2 skin for the SSG 08 bolt-action sniper rifle. Its white paint and arctic blue accents contrast with a dark receiver and scope. The restrained color blocking suits players building a cool-toned rifle loadout. It comes in every standard exterior, with StatTrak™ and Souvenir versions also available.

Description

The SSG 08 | Ghost Crusader applies a Gunsmith finish to a cost-effective sniper rifle used for long-range shooting in CS2. The weapon's low damage makes its practical role distinct from the finish's visual appeal. White paint covers prominent sections of the barrel and stock, while arctic blue highlights several smaller components. The mostly dark receiver and scope give the pale sections a clear visual contrast. Mottled blue surfaces and faint gray details keep the design from looking like plain, uniform paint. Its understated layout suits players who prefer coordinated colors over large artwork or prominent lettering. Documented owners include professional players kennyS, apEX and tarik, although ownership alone does not establish current market demand. Buyers can compare cosmetic condition, exact float value and standard, StatTrak or Souvenir versions when choosing a copy.

History and Origin

Ghost Crusader arrived on April 27, 2016, alongside the Chroma 3 Case. Its release was part of the Chroma 3 Case Skins update. ClegFX created the design as a Steam Workshop community contributor. The skin belongs to The Chroma 3 Collection, which also defines its collection-based trade-up route. Valve retired the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025, and the Chroma 3 Case no longer drops. Existing cases can still be bought on the market and opened, so retirement does not prevent additional Ghost Crusader results. Trade-up contracts offer a separate acquisition route through eligible collection skins rather than requiring a case opening. Finished copies can also be bought on the Steam Community Market or acquired through player trades.

Finish Style

The Gunsmith finish gives the rifle a restrained white, arctic blue and dark gray palette. White paint extends along the barrel and covers the muzzle brake. A ribbed receiver panel and much of the rear stock frame also carry the pale finish. Blue accents appear beneath the barrel and across the folded bipod. The pistol grip, cheek rest and smaller stock fittings continue that cool blue treatment. The central receiver and scope remain mostly dark gray or black, balancing the lighter sections. Mottled texture in the blue areas creates an icy appearance rather than a uniform solid color. Faint gray markings and seams add subtle detail to the white sections. The design emphasizes contrasting blocks of color instead of large illustrations or prominent lettering.

Float Value

The SSG 08 | Ghost Crusader float value ranges from 0.00 to 1.00. Available exteriors are Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred, so none of the standard wear categories is missing. StatTrak and Souvenir versions are also available; those options describe the version, while exterior and float describe cosmetic condition.

Rarity and Popularity

Ghost Crusader has the Restricted rarity grade. A Chroma 3 Case opening has a 3.2% chance of yielding it, or about 1 in 31 drops. The skin is also owned by professional players kennyS, apEX and tarik.

Why it’s Popular:

• White and arctic blue suit cool-toned loadouts

• Dark scope and receiver balance the lighter paint

• Full exterior selection supports different wear preferences

• StatTrak and Souvenir versions offer additional collecting options

Price Range

The live CS2 skin price range for SSG 08 | Ghost Crusader is $1.01 to $20.63. These bounds cover the whole item, rather than identifying a particular exterior or version as the cheapest or most expensive. Compare Factory New through Battle-Scarred listings by exterior and exact float value, rather than relying on the wear label alone. Version availability does not imply matching prices, so standard, StatTrak and Souvenir listings should be compared separately. A useful comparison pairs the current asking price with the listed version and the appearance of the individual copy.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open the Chroma 3 Case

Open a Chroma 3 Case for a chance to receive Ghost Crusader among its possible results. The skin's chance is 3.2%, so opening the case does not select this finish directly. The case no longer drops, but existing cases can still be bought on the market and opened.

3. Trade Up Contracts

A Trade Up Contract using 10 Mil-Spec Grade skins from The Chroma 3 Collection produces 1 Restricted skin from that collection. Ghost Crusader is a possible result, but the outcome is random among the collection's Restricted skins rather than a choice of finish.

4. Buy on the Steam Community Market

Buy SSG 08 | Ghost Crusader directly on the Steam Community Market instead of relying on a random case or contract result. Check the exterior and version attached to each listing before comparing its price with another copy.

5. Trade with Other Players

Player-to-player trades provide another way to acquire an existing copy of Ghost Crusader. Before exchanging items, verify the exact skin, exterior, float value and version so the trade matches the intended rifle.

Trading and Investment Considerations

The Chroma 3 Case no longer drops, but existing cases and trade-up contracts still provide routes to additional copies. Professional ownership provides evidence of player interest without proving current demand or quick resale. Future demand and resale speed remain uncertain, so buyers looking to buy, sell or trade should compare exterior, float and version carefully.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Retired source case with no new case drops

• Documented ownership by kennyS, apEX and tarik

• Distinctive white paint and icy blue accents

• StatTrak and Souvenir versions broaden collecting options

The investment rating is medium, reflecting the retired source case and documented professional ownership. Those factors support its collecting appeal, but they do not establish sustained buying demand or a reliable price trend. The main risk is continued skin supply through existing case openings and trade-up contracts, which can limit scarcity-driven appreciation.
