SSG 08 | Dark Water

SSG 08 | Dark Water is a CS2 sniper rifle skin with charcoal metallic coloring and irregular gray aquatic stripes. Its subdued design concentrates the pattern on the receiver and stock, leaving the barrel and scope mostly dark gray. The finish suits players who prefer muted colors with contrasting metallic details. Minimal Wear and Field-Tested copies are available, alongside StatTrak™ and Souvenir versions.

Description

SSG 08 | Dark Water gives the CS2 sniper rifle a restrained, water-inspired finish rather than a brightly colored paint scheme. The weapon itself offers cost-effective, early-round long-range marksmanship, balanced by relatively low damage. Its Anodized Multicolored finish combines a chrome base with charcoal paints that reflect light differently. Broad gray stripes and smaller curved patches provide the main visual detail across the rifle's body. This combination suits players building a gray-toned loadout or seeking a patterned rifle without vivid accents. Professional owners include FalleN, Happy, and mixwell, although ownership alone does not establish market demand. Buyers can choose regular, StatTrak, or Souvenir versions according to the kind of item they want to collect or use. Before buying or trading, compare the exact float, exterior, version, and pictured appearance of the individual copy.

History and Origin

SSG 08 | Dark Water was released on July 10, 2014, alongside the eSports 2014 Summer Case. Its introduction came through the update titled "eSports 2014 Summer Case Skins", tying its release directly to that case. Valve created the finish, rather than a community designer. The skin belongs to The eSports 2014 Summer Collection, which identifies its collection origin separately from its available versions. Valve retired the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025, ending new drops of the eSports 2014 Summer Case. Existing cases can still be bought on the market and opened, so retirement did not remove the case-opening acquisition route. Individual copies can also be purchased through the Steam Community Market without opening the original case. Player-to-player trading provides another current acquisition route, distinct from how the skin originally entered the game.

Finish Style

Dark Water uses the Anodized Multicolored finish style to combine metallic surfaces with an aquatic stripe design. Charcoal paints with differing reflectivity sit over a chrome base, creating contrast within an otherwise muted palette. The receiver and stock carry most of the pattern, with irregular gray bands crossing their dark surfaces. Those bands vary visually between broad waves and smaller curved patches, giving the body an uneven, flowing arrangement. The barrel and scope remain mostly dark gray, keeping attention on the patterned sections rather than spreading detail evenly across every part. Lighter metallic highlights appear around the muzzle and the rim of the scope. The grip, cheek rest, butt pad, and exposed hardware introduce lighter gray tones that break up the dark body. Together, these details give the rifle a subdued metallic character whose variation comes from stripes and reflectivity rather than bright colors.

Float Value

SSG 08 | Dark Water has an exact float range of 0.10 to 0.26, covering the condition limits available for this finish. It comes in Minimal Wear and Field-Tested only, with no Factory New, Well-Worn, or Battle-Scarred exterior. StatTrak and Souvenir versions are also supported, but version availability is separate from the cosmetic condition represented by exterior and float.

Rarity and Popularity

Dark Water is a Mil-Spec Grade skin, with a 13.32% chance of being received from the eSports 2014 Summer Case. That chance concerns a case-opening result, not the availability of new cases, since the case no longer drops. Ownership by FalleN, Happy, and mixwell gives it a professional-player connection without establishing how frequently it sells or how broadly it is sought.

Why it’s Popular:

• Subdued charcoal colors suit gray-toned loadouts

• Aquatic stripes add detail without bright accents

• Metallic contrast gives the dark finish visual texture

• StatTrak and Souvenir options offer different collecting choices

Price Range

The live SSG 08 | Dark Water price range is $1.67 to $15.00, covering the skin as a whole. Minimal Wear and Field-Tested listings should be compared separately rather than treated as interchangeable choices. Regular, StatTrak, and Souvenir copies also need separate checks when comparing a CS2 skin price. Within an exterior, inspect the exact float and pictured finish instead of relying on the condition label alone. Use Eneba Skins to compare available listings, then confirm that the listed version and condition match the copy being considered.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open the eSports 2014 Summer Case

Open the eSports 2014 Summer Case for a chance to receive SSG 08 | Dark Water. Its 13.32% chance means an opening does not ensure this specific result. The case no longer drops, but existing cases can still be bought on the market and opened.

3. Buy on the Steam Community Market

The Steam Community Market provides a direct purchase route for SSG 08 | Dark Water. Check each listing's exterior and version rather than assuming every copy has the same features. Buying a listed skin avoids relying on the outcome of a case opening.

4. Trade with Other Players

Player-to-player trading offers another way to obtain SSG 08 | Dark Water using items exchanged with another player. Compare the offered copy's float, exterior, and version before agreeing to the trade. Confirm those details again when reviewing the item being transferred.

Trading and Investment Considerations

The retired case ends fresh case drops, but existing cases can still be opened to introduce additional copies of the skin. Professional ownership adds a reason for interest, yet it does not demonstrate price growth or reliable resale speed. Anyone looking to buy, sell, or trade should compare regular, StatTrak, and Souvenir listings separately, then check the available exterior and exact float.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Retired case origin limits fresh case supply

• Professional ownership provides a recognizable collecting connection

• StatTrak and Souvenir versions broaden collecting options

• Distinctive metallic stripes give the finish a clear identity

SSG 08 | Dark Water receives a medium investment rating, supported by its retired case origin and professional ownership. Those factors provide reasons to consider holding it, but they do not establish a dependable growth trend. The main risk is uncertain resale demand while existing cases can still produce additional copies.
