Skeleton Knife | Stained

The ★ Skeleton Knife | Stained is a CS2 knife skin with a cloudy silver-gray patina and a skeletonized handle. Dark grip tape contrasts with the exposed metal, while a bright cutting edge defines the blade. Its muted finish suits players who prefer metallic detail over colorful artwork. Every exterior is available, with standard and StatTrak™ versions to compare.

Description

The ★ Skeleton Knife | Stained combines an exposed-metal knife design with an irregular, patchy finish in CS2. Cloudy gray staining supplies its visual detail instead of printed graphics or lettering. The large round handle opening allows a finger through for stability and safety. Dark tape wraps the grip, leaving sections of mottled metal visible around the opening and at the butt. This restrained palette suits players building a loadout around silver, gray, or charcoal tones. Standard and StatTrak versions offer a choice between the finish alone and a version with a kill counter. Buyers can select any available exterior without changing the underlying knife design. Comparing the exact float and listing image helps separate condition preferences from the appeal of the stained surface.

History and Origin

★ Skeleton Knife | Stained debuted on November 18, 2019, with the Operation Shattered Web update. The Shattered Web Case was its original case source. Valve created the finish rather than a community designer. The Fracture Case also contains this knife skin, providing another case-opening route. Valve retired the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025. As of October 9, 2026, neither source case drops, so new drops no longer replenish their supply. Existing cases can still be purchased on the market and opened for a chance at the knife. Marketplace purchases and player trades provide access to existing skins without requiring a case opening.

Finish Style

Stained uses a Patina finish produced by applying lemon and mustard to the metal surface. The blade has a silvery gray base interrupted by uneven areas of discoloration. Pale blue-gray clouds mingle with darker gray patches, creating an irregular rather than geometric design. A bright strip follows the cutting edge and contrasts with the darker upper blade face. Four small circular holes sit near the blade's base, adding structural detail beside the staining. A larger round opening marks the front of the handle, with mottled silver metal visible around it. Charcoal grip bands cover much of the handle while leaving exposed metal at the butt. With no visible text or artwork, the finish relies on patchy color and the knife's open construction for its character.

Float Value

The ★ Skeleton Knife | Stained has a float range of 0.00 to 1.00. Available exteriors are Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred, with none of those condition categories missing. Standard and StatTrak versions are available, but no Souvenir version exists; version availability is separate from cosmetic condition.

Rarity and Popularity

★ Skeleton Knife | Stained has the Covert rarity grade. Its stated chance from the Shattered Web Case is 0.0049%, which should not be assumed to apply to the Fracture Case. Buying or trading an existing copy avoids relying on that case-opening outcome.

Why it’s Popular:

• Cloudy silver-gray staining gives the blade a distinctive metallic character

• Skeletonized construction adds detail without printed artwork

• Charcoal grip tape complements muted loadout colors

• All exteriors and StatTrak options accommodate different preferences

Price Range

The live ★ Skeleton Knife | Stained price range is $149.96 to $651.81. These bounds cover the whole skin rather than fixed exteriors or versions. Compare exact float values within each exterior instead of treating every listing under the same condition label as identical. Check standard and StatTrak listings separately, since the version is another part of the purchase decision. A useful CS2 skin price comparison matches the asking price with the listed exterior, float, version, and visible finish.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open a Weapon Case

Open a Shattered Web Case or Fracture Case for a chance at this knife. Neither case drops anymore, but existing cases can still be bought on the market and opened. The stated Shattered Web Case chance is 0.0049%, so opening that case does not assure this result.

3. Buy on the Steam Community Market

Buy an existing ★ Skeleton Knife | Stained listing on the Steam Community Market rather than relying on a case opening. Check the exterior and whether the listing is standard or StatTrak before selecting a copy.

4. Trade with Other Players

The knife can also be obtained through a trade with another player who owns it. Confirm the offered item's exterior, exact float, and version before accepting, especially when comparing it with marketplace listings.

Trading and Investment Considerations

Both source cases have stopped dropping, limiting replenishment of the cases used to produce new copies through openings. Available listings cover multiple exteriors and StatTrak versions, but listings alone do not establish how quickly a copy will sell. For a buy, sell, or trade decision, compare matching exteriors, floats, and versions rather than relying only on the overall price range.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Finite supply of unopened source cases

• Distinctive skeletonized construction and cloudy metal finish

• Standard and StatTrak versions broaden ownership choices

• Muted colors suit metal-focused loadouts

The investment rating is medium: retired source cases limit replenishment, but that alone does not establish resale demand. Without established price-history or trading-volume evidence, the main risk is paying for a preferred float or version that proves difficult to resell.
