Section 13 Reinstates Co-Op Mode With New Update

Section 13, formerly known as Blackout Protocol, by Ocean Drive Studio and published by Kakao Games announced on March 13, 2025 that the latest update of the game will bring new tactical gear, improved enemies, and revive the co-op mode.

Section 13 is a twin-stick roguelite shooter set in a research facility where failed experiments are on the loose and hunting agents from the S2P Corporation. The game is stuffed to the rafters with action, terrors from other dimensions, and intense gameplay.

Single player mode is still available but with the new update rolling out being loosely called “Party Up,” there’s a hint of Section 13 leaning more towards team work.

“Teamwork makes the dream work, and with the relaunch of co-op mode, our players can now sacrifice three employees in one round for maximum efficiency,” a press release said.

The game is currently available in Early Access on Xbox and PC with a release date for PlayStation 5 confirmed for later in 2025.

About The Studio And Publisher

Ocean Drive Studio gained attention with the release of its first game, the turn-based tactical RPG Lost Eidolons, on Steam, PS5, and Xbox. Building on this success, they are working on the second game in the same genre, Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch, as well as other titles including the physics-based sandbox survival game God Save Birmingham, and an action RPG based on the IP Sword Master Youngest Son.

Founded in 2016, Kakao Games is a leading publisher of online and mobile games, responsible for releasing titles including Pearl Abyss’ Black Desert Online, KRAFTON’s PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Kong Studios’ Guardian Tales, and Nineark’s Eversoul.
