About this skin

How is a skin affected by its quality?

Quality affects the skin's cosmetic condition, not the knife's functionality. Rust Coat ranges from 0.40 to 1.00 and comes only in Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred; its rusted appearance does not prevent the knife from functioning.

How does the rarity of a skin work?

Rarity identifies a skin's drop category. Rust Coat is Covert, with a specific 0.0085% chance from the Chroma Case; that figure applies to this skin in that case.

How much does ★ M9 Bayonet | Rust Coat cost?

The live range is $288.90 to $673.55. These bounds cover the whole skin; compare the exterior, float and regular or StatTrak version of individual listings.

Which cases contain ★ M9 Bayonet | Rust Coat?

The Chroma Case, Chroma 2 Case and Chroma 3 Case contain this knife. None receives new drops, but existing cases can still be purchased and opened.

Which exteriors and versions does ★ M9 Bayonet | Rust Coat have?

It comes in Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred, with regular and StatTrak versions. Its float range is 0.40 to 1.00, so compare the exact float and appearance of individual copies.

Is ★ M9 Bayonet | Rust Coat a good investment?

Its editorial investment rating is medium. Retired case supply and professional ownership support its appeal, but future demand and price growth remain uncertain.

Short Description

★ M9 Bayonet | Rust Coat is a CS2 knife skin with a dark gray blade and irregular reddish-brown corrosion. Its patchy Patina finish suits players who prefer rugged, muted equipment over decorative artwork. The charcoal handle and lighter cutting edge give the rusted blade contrasting surfaces. It comes in Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred, with regular and StatTrak™ versions available.

Description

★ M9 Bayonet | Rust Coat brings a weathered, utilitarian finish to the M9 Bayonet in CS2. The weapon's bayonet design was originally intended for rifle mounting, while also serving as a close-range combat knife. Rust-colored patches spread across the broad blade rather than forming a decorative illustration or repeated graphic. A silver-gray cutting edge contrasts with the darker blade face, keeping the blade's outline visually distinct. The finish presents corrosion as its central theme while leaving the knife operational. Its restrained palette suits dark loadouts and players who prefer textured surfaces to ornamental designs. Professional players NEO, DANK1NG and riskyb0b own this skin. Buyers can compare the exterior, exact float value, visible finish and StatTrak option when choosing a particular copy.

History and Origin

★ M9 Bayonet | Rust Coat was released on January 8, 2015. It arrived through the "Chroma Case Skins" update. Valve created the skin rather than a community designer. The Chroma Case was its original case source at release. The finish is also obtainable from the Chroma 2 Case and Chroma 3 Case. Valve retired the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025. As of October 9, 2026, none of these cases receives new drops. Existing cases can still be bought and opened, while finished knives remain obtainable through marketplace purchases and player trades.

Finish Style

The Rust Coat finish uses Patina styling to give the blade a corroded, uneven appearance. Dark gray forms the blade's base, interrupted by reddish-brown patches across its broad face. A lighter silver-gray strip follows the cutting edge, with scattered brown mottling breaking up that surface. The blade face includes a long recessed groove and an oval opening near the tip. Pronounced teeth along the spine add a jagged outline above the broad blade. The guard and circular barrel ring are dark gray with brown discoloration. A charcoal-gray handle has deep segmented grooves that contrast with the blade's patchy texture. No decorative artwork or visible text interrupts the finish, leaving the metal shapes and rust-colored surfaces as the visual focus.

Float Value

★ M9 Bayonet | Rust Coat has a float range of 0.40 to 1.00 and comes only in Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred. Buyers should inspect the exact float and appearance within these supported exteriors rather than relying on the exterior label alone. Regular and StatTrak versions are available; version availability is separate from cosmetic condition.

Rarity and Popularity

★ M9 Bayonet | Rust Coat has the Covert rarity grade. Its specific drop chance from the Chroma Case is 0.0085%, making that case an uncertain route to the desired knife. Existing Chroma Case, Chroma 2 Case and Chroma 3 Case supplies remain acquisition sources despite their retired drop status.

Why it’s Popular:

• Reddish-brown rust gives the blade a distinctive textured appearance

• Muted colors suit dark, utilitarian loadouts

• No decorative artwork distracts from the bayonet's shape

• Regular and StatTrak versions offer different ownership options

Price Range

The live ★ M9 Bayonet | Rust Coat price range is $288.90 to $673.55. These bounds cover the whole skin rather than a fixed exterior or version. Compare Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred listings by exact float and visible condition, not just their exterior labels. Regular and StatTrak listings should be checked separately when comparing a CS2 skin price. Eneba Skins helps buyers compare offers, while anyone planning to buy, sell or trade should inspect the specific copy.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open a Weapon Case

Open a Chroma Case, Chroma 2 Case or Chroma 3 Case for a chance at this knife. These cases no longer drop, but existing unopened cases can still be purchased and opened. The specific Rust Coat chance from the Chroma Case is 0.0085%, so opening it may produce a different item.

3. Buy on the Steam Community Market

Buy ★ M9 Bayonet | Rust Coat directly through the Steam Community Market by selecting an available listing. Check whether the offer is Well-Worn or Battle-Scarred and whether it is regular or StatTrak. Inspect the individual knife's float and appearance before choosing it.

4. Trade with Other Players

Player-to-player trading offers a route to this knife without opening a case. Confirm the offered item's exterior, exact float and StatTrak status before agreeing to exchange skins. Current comparable listings can help assess the trade without relying on appearance alone.

Trading and Investment Considerations

Case-opening supply depends on existing Chroma cases because no new cases from these sources drop. Professional ownership provides visibility, but it does not establish future buyer demand or a dependable resale pace. Compare regular and StatTrak copies within the available exteriors, and avoid treating a current price range as evidence of sustained growth.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Retired cases constrain future case-opening supply

• Ownership by professional players

• Distinctive rusted Patina appearance

• Regular and StatTrak options broaden buyer choice

The editorial investment rating is medium, supported by retired case supply, professional ownership and distinct regular and StatTrak options. The main risk is uncertain future demand: those features do not establish a price-growth trend or promise returns when the knife is resold.
