Starship Troopers: Extermination Set For Major Updates

The first of two major patches is available as of March 26, 2025, proving that the fight for Valaka is far from over. Publisher and developer Offworld Industries’ patch 1.3 doubles down on the commitment to bring more immersive gameplay to the large-scale co-op battlefield.
Patch 1.3 addresses the battlefield by introducing day and night cycles on Valaka, Boreas, and Agni Prime, as well as dynamic weather to make the life of a trooper even more challenging. Players will also be able to earn XP if they disconnect and join companies without an invitation.
“The Sandstorm Mutator has been revamped with varying intensities, from mild to blinding. New Extreme Weather Mutators include thunderstorms, blizzards, and ash storms, making survival even tougher,” Offshore Industries said in a press release.
“No more frustrating interruptions! All weapons (except the Sp.L.I.T Shotgun and Sp.L.I.T Shotgun Slug) now feature progressive reload stages. If you’re forced to stop reloading mid-combat, you’ll resume from the last checkpoint rather than starting over.”

Patch 1.4 Later 2025
Since patch 1.3 came out, the response on Reddit has been overwhelmingly positive with players praising Offworld Industries for listening to the community. Reddit member Free51 summed it up by saying in the game’s dedicated feed:
“Nice. I really like that they are looking after the player base and patching. It’s a low bar to keep me happy but anything that has annoyed me (since the game released) is being addressed or I’m confident it will be,” Free51 said and added: “Developers are doing their part!”

Less is known about patch 1.4 but the company promises to deliver on the highly requested possibility to upgrade the Morita MK2 and MK3 for increased firepower. It will also be possible to become a Federation war reporter by recovering cameras on the battlefield to boost squad morale XP.
There’s also a promise of more updates and quality-of-life enhancements, but the specifics are yet to be confirmed.
About Starship Troopers: Extermination
Inspired by the Starship Troopers movie from 1997, the game supports cross-platform and is available on PC, PS5, and the Xbox XS Series. Teams can consist of as many as 16 players at the same time, making for a hectic and chaotic battle against the insectoid enemies.
Critics were quick to point out the lack of content when the game was fully released on Oct. 25, 2024, but subsequent updates and patches have led to a bigger universe with more species of bugs to exterminate.
