Every year, Steam concludes the annual award season with their own little thing. So-called Steam Awards is the ultimate fan service where there are no judges and no predetermined nominations. In other words – everything is decided by fans and fans alone, so it can be a great mirror showing the status of our current player base.

After a few weeks of voting, the winners of Steam Awards 2020 were finally announced and the list is… weird. The Game of the Year award went to Red Dead Redemption 2, which was released in 2019.

There were also some weird picks in the Labor of Love category – out of 5 old games, the Steam community picked Counter Strike: Global Offensive, and the Sit Back and Relax award went to The Sims 4. From what we gather, Steam Awards 2020 became awards of the decade.
