Short Description

★ Butterfly Knife | Freehand is a CS2 knife skin with a curved blade, a black-and-purple base, and bright metallic artwork. Irregular symbols and small doodles give the blade a busy appearance, while the handles keep a cleaner layout. The finish suits players who prefer hand-drawn decoration over a uniform color scheme. All exterior grades are available, with standard and StatTrak™ versions.

Description

★ Butterfly Knife | Freehand brings silver-white drawings to a black-and-purple balisong in CS2. The weapon's freely pivoting blade opens in a fan-like motion, making its folding construction part of the visual presentation. Its curved blade carries irregular outlines, zigzags, letter-like symbols, and small face-like doodles rather than a single central illustration. The handles balance that dense artwork with mostly black surfaces and long purple inset panels. A bright metallic edge traces the blade's lower curve, separating the cutting edge from the decorated face. This look suits players who want visible detail on the blade without an equally crowded handle design. Buyers can choose between standard copies and versions with a StatTrak counter, depending on their preferred item type. When comparing listings, the exterior, exact float value, version, and item images provide useful checks before a purchase.

History and Origin

★ Butterfly Knife | Freehand was released on September 21, 2021, in the Operation Riptide update. Its original case source was the Operation Riptide Case, linking the finish's introduction to that release. Valve created the skin rather than a community designer. Today, the Dreams & Nightmares Case provides another case-opening route to the same knife finish. The Operation Riptide Case no longer drops following Valve's retirement of the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025. Existing Operation Riptide cases can still be bought on the market and opened despite that change. As of October 9, 2026, the Dreams & Nightmares Case remains in the weekly drop pool through the Weekly Care Package. Current buyers can also obtain an existing knife through marketplace listings or player trades instead of opening either case.

Finish Style

Freehand uses the Anodized Multicolored finish style, combining a dark painted base with metallic-marker decoration. Purple and black cover the curved blade, creating a backdrop for the brighter artwork. Silver-white markings spread across its face, giving the decoration a loosely drawn visual character. Irregular outlines and zigzags break up the surface without forming a tidy repeating layout. Letter-like symbols and small face-like doodles add separate points of detail throughout the blade artwork. The metallic-marker decoration stands out against the purple-and-black painted base. The handle sections are mostly black, with elongated purple inset panels and rows of circular holes. Their restrained arrangement contrasts with the densely marked blade, keeping the two parts of the knife visually different.

Float Value

The float value range is 0.00 to 0.48. Available exteriors are Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred, so no exterior grade is excluded. Standard and StatTrak versions exist; version availability is separate from the cosmetic condition represented by float.

Rarity and Popularity

★ Butterfly Knife | Freehand has the Covert rarity grade, which is separate from its exterior and StatTrak status. Its stated chance from the Operation Riptide Case is 0.0085%, and that figure should not be applied to the Dreams & Nightmares Case. Documented professional owners include olofmeister, Zeus, and rallen, providing ownership evidence without establishing broader market demand.

Why it’s Popular:

• Black-and-purple colors with bright silver-white artwork

• Hand-drawn symbols and face-like blade doodles

• Restrained handles contrast with the densely decorated blade

• Standard and StatTrak versions offer different ownership options

Price Range

The live ★ Butterfly Knife | Freehand price range is $472.16 to $1,182.08. These bounds cover the whole item rather than a fixed exterior or version. Compare the exact float value alongside the exterior label, especially when reviewing several listings within the same condition. Check StatTrak copies separately from standard versions rather than assuming a fixed price difference between them. A useful CS2 skin price comparison also includes the listing's blade and handle images, helping buyers judge the specific copy before choosing.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open a Weapon Case

Open an Operation Riptide Case or Dreams & Nightmares Case for a chance at this knife. The stated Operation Riptide Case chance is 0.0085%, so opening that case does not provide a predictable route to the finish. Operation Riptide cases must come from existing supply, while Dreams & Nightmares cases remain in the weekly drop pool.

3. Buy on the Steam Community Market

Buy an existing copy through the Steam Community Market to select the listed knife instead of relying on a case result. Compare its exterior, float value, and standard or StatTrak version before choosing a listing. The item name alone does not identify the exact condition or version being purchased.

4. Trade with Other Players

Trade with another player who owns the finish, agreeing on the exchange before accepting it. Check the offered knife's exterior, exact float, and StatTrak status against the copy being discussed. This route uses an existing item rather than requiring a successful case opening.

Trading and Investment Considerations

Dreams & Nightmares remains an active case source, while Operation Riptide has a retired case supply that cannot receive new drops. Professional ownership adds visibility, but it does not establish how quickly a particular copy will sell or where prices will move. To buy, sell, or trade this finish, compare equivalent versions and inspect exact floats rather than treating every listing as interchangeable.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Documented ownership by professional players

• Distinctive purple blade with metallic doodle artwork

• StatTrak options alongside standard versions

• Retired Operation Riptide Case supply

The investment rating is medium, balancing documented professional ownership and a retired original case source against continued availability through Dreams & Nightmares. Its price level makes careful exterior and version comparisons important before committing to a copy. The main risk is ongoing case-based supply alongside uncertain future demand, so the evidence does not support promising resale gains.
