Short Description

★ Butterfly Knife | Boreal Forest is a CS2 knife skin combining a balisong design with woodland camouflage. Its curved blade carries olive, pale green, brown, and dark gray patches, bordered by a bright silver cutting edge. The subdued colors suit forest-themed loadouts and players who prefer camouflage to brighter decoration. Factory New through Battle-Scarred exteriors are available, including StatTrak™ versions but no Souvenir option.

Description

★ Butterfly Knife | Boreal Forest brings a forest camouflage finish to the Butterfly Knife in CS2. The balisong design uses a freely pivoting blade that opens with a distinctive fan-like movement. Its curved blade provides the main canvas for the irregular camouflage patches. Dark green handles balance that busy surface with larger, cleaner blocks of color. The result suits players who want an earthy palette while retaining the Butterfly Knife's distinctive shape. Valve created the design rather than a community artist. Buyers can choose regular or StatTrak versions without switching to a different finish. When comparing individual copies, exterior, float value, and visible blade and handle condition provide more useful detail than the skin name alone.

History and Origin

The Butterfly Knife finish was released on July 1, 2014, as part of the Operation Breakout update. It arrived through the Operation Breakout Weapon Case, which remains its case-opening source. Valve designed the skin, giving it a developer-created origin rather than a community-designed one. Its flavor text reinforces the woodland theme by warning against traveling through dangerous forests alone. The case's supply changed when Valve retired the rare drop pool on December 17, 2025. As of October 9, 2026, the Operation Breakout Weapon Case no longer drops. Existing cases can still be bought on the market and opened, despite the end of new case drops. Players seeking the knife today can also purchase an existing copy directly or arrange a trade with another player.

Finish Style

Boreal Forest uses a Hydrographic finish to give the blade a woodland camouflage surface. Irregular olive, pale green, brown, and dark gray patches create a mottled pattern across the curved blade. A narrow bright silver edge follows the cutting side, contrasting with the camouflage on the blade's face. The curved handle sections are mostly dark green, keeping the same restrained color direction. Long muted gray-brown inset panels add contrasting areas along the handles. Circular holes and pivot screws introduce mechanical details around those broader color blocks. Ridged sections provide additional visible texture without changing the forest-colored palette. The blade looks busy and patchy, while the handles use larger, cleaner areas that make the overall design easier to distinguish.

Float Value

★ Butterfly Knife | Boreal Forest has a float value range of 0.06 to 0.80. Available exteriors are Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred, giving buyers the full exterior selection. Regular and StatTrak versions are available, but there is no Souvenir version; version availability is separate from cosmetic condition.

Rarity and Popularity

★ Butterfly Knife | Boreal Forest has Covert rarity, which describes its grade rather than the condition of an individual copy. The chance of obtaining this skin from the Operation Breakout Weapon Case is 0.02%. Professional players CRUC1AL and erkaSt own the skin.

Why it’s Popular:

• Woodland camouflage suits subdued, forest-themed loadouts

• Distinctive curved blade and fan-like balisong opening

• Bright silver edge contrasts with the mottled blade

• Regular and StatTrak versions offer different ownership options

Price Range

The live CS2 skin price range for ★ Butterfly Knife | Boreal Forest is $380.00 to $912.25. These bounds cover the whole skin, not a fixed exterior or version. Exterior and StatTrak status can affect listing prices, while float and inspection images help distinguish copies within the same wear label. Before choosing where to buy, sell, or trade, compare matching versions rather than treating the overall range as a valuation for every knife.

How to Obtain

1. Buy Directly through Eneba Skins

One of the fastest and most straightforward options is to purchase skins directly through Eneba Skins. You can browse available CS2 skins, compare prices, and choose the items that best fit your budget.

2. Open the Operation Breakout Weapon Case

Open an existing Operation Breakout Weapon Case for a chance at this knife. The case no longer drops, but market-bought cases can still be opened. The skin's 0.02% chance makes opening an uncertain route rather than a direct purchase.

3. Buy on the Steam Community Market

Buy an existing copy on the Steam Community Market to select the skin directly rather than attempt a case opening. Compare the exterior, float value, and regular or StatTrak version before committing to a listing.

4. Trade with Other Players

Trade with another player who owns a copy of the knife. Check the offered item's exterior, float, version, and visible condition before agreeing to the exchange.

Trading and Investment Considerations

With no new Operation Breakout Weapon Cases dropping, unopened case supply can shrink as existing cases are opened. Professional ownership shows actual use, but does not establish ongoing buyer demand or fast resale. Compare regular and StatTrak copies by exterior and float, while recognizing that market depth and price trends remain uncertain.

Reasons it Holds Value

• Retired case supply limits replenishment

• Documented professional ownership

• Valve-created Operation Breakout origin

• Regular and StatTrak options

The editorial investment rating is medium-to-good, supported by retired case supply and documented professional ownership. Those factors make it a plausible holding candidate, not a proven short-term flip. Its substantial purchase cost and uncertain resale demand are the main risks, with no assurance that prices will rise.
