Just recently, Nintendo has announced a new update for their Super Mario Maker 2 game. According to the news, 1.1.0 update brings the new ‘Play With Friends’ mode alongside a lot of new features that will make the game better overall.

‘Play With Friends’ will finally allow players to play with their friends (duh…) in two new Multiplayer Co-op and Multiplayer Versus online modes. This fixes a previous issue where if you wanted to share a stage with your friend you had to be playing the game in the same building using ‘Nearby Play’ mode. 2019, baby!

As mentioned above, 1.1.0 not only brings online play but also tweaks some existing modes as well. ‘Nearby Play’ will get an additional option to play via LAN. It will also include the option to choose from courses uploaded to Course World and courses saved to Coursebot. Lastly, the update will also add a list of Official Makers which will include courses made by Nintendo.

A few additional quality of life improvements coming with 1.1.0 brings the new option to use the touch-screen, button controls when creating courses in Handheld mode and the ability to play Super Mario Maker 2 with a horizontal Joy-Con controller in all modes.
