Niantic, a studio behind the famous augmented reality game Pokémon Go, has finally unveiled their next game called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. While the game was rumored for quite some time, there were no concrete details about it. Until now…

According to the announcement, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite combines content and characters you know and love, from both the original Harry Potter series and the Fantastic Beasts films, to create a truly unique Wizarding World experience. It’s up to you to ready your wand, prepare your potions, brush up your spells and help prevent The Calamity from exposing the secrets of the wizarding world.

Gameplay wise, the new Harry Potter themed game is fairly similar to its predecessor Pokémon Go. The player will be tasked with going around the world to find traces of magic and magical items called ‘Foundables’ in order to conceal them from the Muggles. Additionally, the game developer promises that Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will also feature locations from the Harry Potter universe such as Ollivander’s Wand Shop. These locations will be recreated in the AR environment.

Similarly to Pokémon Go, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will also have a multiplayer, allowing you and your friends to team up and take on various magical villains such as Death Eaters, Dementors and so on. However, Niantic seems to have completely forgotten about the PvP battles.

You can start assembling your team of Harry Potter fans because pre-registration for beta testing is already available on Google Play. Although for now, there is no word about the official release date.
