After a couple of teasers Blizzard finally unveiled the 31st hero of the Overwatch roster. We already knew that the newest hero in Overwatch will be a male character, but no other details were revealed. Well, until now. Gamers, meet Sigma, the eccentric astrophysicist.
From what we gather, Sigma is an older man who used to be a scientist and was chasing the idea of harnessing the power of a black hole. The origin story trailer also reveals that Sigma is imprisoned in some sort of mental health facility. The end of the video also shows Sigma next to Doomfist, Sombra, Widowmaker, and Reaper which reveal his relation to the Overwatch’s criminal organization called Talon.
The new trailer also shows that the new hero has a dual identity which might hint his possible abilities. Players might expect Sigma to have two different stances to emphasize its split personality. Of course, Sigma’s fascination with gravity and black holes might also be reflected in the hero’s skillset giving him similar abilities such as Zarya’s Graviton Surge, or Orisa’s Halt!.
Though, these are nothing but speculations for now. We will get more news about Sigma and his abilities in the near future.
