Cyberpunk 2077 is an FPP game that aims for full-scale player immersion. ‘’Achieving full immersion in an FPP game is extremely important and the decision made by the team to go 100% first person in @CyberpunkGame is something that will benefit it greatly from gameplay and story-telling perspectives.‘‘ reads a recent tweet post by Marcin Momot, the CD Projekt Red‘s global community lead.

From what we‘ve gathered with over two years of trailers and work-in-progress gameplay footage, Cyberpunk has shown plenty of third-person visualisations, however, this is subdued to change. Some of the game fans are worried that such a decision will greatly affect deep character creation and customization aspects.

However, Momot continues with the second part to his tweet, in it he reassures the fans by saying ‘‘[…] players will still be able to see their characters in the inventory screen, during driving sequences, in mirrors and, very occasionally, in some of the cut-scenes.’’ Keyword in here to note is very occasionally, so the stated ‘’100% first person’’ might be a little less after all.

Additionally, as explained by Miles Tost, senior level designer at CD Project Red, another reason for why the first-person view is much more convenient for level design is that you won‘t need to leave any extra space where it isn‘t necessary. And in considering the tight and narrow streets of the Night City, this is definitely a welcoming decision.

No matter the current fuss about the Studio‘s decision, only time will tell the outcome, and from what we have been shown, Cyberpunk 2077 promises a journey that will stay with the player long-after its end. The game is said to launch for April 16th, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows, and even Google Stadia. Also, you can already preorder the PC version of the game right on our store!
