With World of Warcraft’s latest expansion Shadowlands nearing its launch, Blizzard decided to host a special Welcome Back event allowing everyone to try the game for free over the course of the coming weekend. According to Blizzard, all the current World of Warcraft content will be accessible for free without a need to purchase any of the expansions or game time. However, the event is super short – it will conclude on November 8th.
The event is dedicated to returning World of Warcraft players as well as newcomers. Previous subscribers will be able to log in to their existing account, play with their old character no matter what level they are, and enjoy all the new content. Fresh meat will also be eligible for everything current World of Warcraft has to offer – they’ll start their journey in the new Exiles Reach zone and will be able to hop right into action upon completing it. The main draw, of course, is the new Timewalk leveling, allowing players to level through an expansion of their choosing. We wrote in detail about this in our previous blog post.
This is not the first time Blizzard hosts a similar event. Almost every time the new expansion is near, World of Warcraft tries to summon its old (and new) players with tricks like this. However, this time, with revamped leveling and new character’s customization options there might be way more people choosing to stay in Azeroth for a longer period. We’re sure that it will help boost Shadowlands sales and increase subscription numbers.
